Flynn & Trump's DoJ, add?

[edit]

See Michael Flynn.

Update: Flynn's name was never 'masked' in FBI report on phone call with Russian; Republicans have questioned why Michael Flynn's name was "unmasked," or revealed in an FBI report, but it turns out it was never masked in the first place. May 21, 2020

Per the above, I removed the sentence below, as it appears out-of-date &/or in error:

On May 12, 2020, Grenell declassified the names of Obama administration officials who unmasked Michael Flynn[clarification needed],[1][2] and on May 19, 2020, Grenell declassified an email that Obama's national security advisor Susan Rice sent to herself.[3]

Should "He is considered a staunch Trump loyalist" be in the lead?

[edit]

The statement "He is considered a staunch Trump loyalist" has been added and deleted from the lead (and recently re-added). It seems that there is disagreement over this. In an effort to find consensus, I've opened this section for discussion. Thanks Ism schism (talk) 01:11, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The primary reason for Grenell's public prominence was his appointment as DNI, a major role for which few were quick to say he was qualified, amid reports and concerns that Trump was installing loyalists to critical positions in the government. Hence that loyalism is a defining characteristic worthy of the lead. soibangla (talk) 01:20, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ism schism, please note you just removed it from the article entirely, not just from the lead. Maybe keep it there until this is resolved. soibangla (talk) 01:37, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
RS overwhelmingly explicitly refer to him as a "Trump loyalist" (just google Grenell along with "Trump loyalist"). RS link him being a Trump loyalist to his ascent in the administration and to the actions he has taken while in the administration. It is clearly a very important part for this bio, and it should be re-added ASAP. Snooganssnoogans (talk) 01:56, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Pakistan

[edit]

Should his current stances on Pakistan be included under foreign policy? He seems very vocal on the release of former PM Imran Khan and appears to be getting a polarizing reception in some Pakistani media, specifically from sites like Geo News. Just curious though, if not worthy to be dedicated to a sub-section, perhaps a slight mention of such? Iliru (talk) 05:39, 25 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
