Existence
[edit]My family has been "conducting rhabdomancy" also known as "Water Witching", "Dowsing" or divining ever since I was a child. I was taught, or introduced to the natural skill when I was a child of 4 or 5. I use RODS usually, but can also use just my hand and "feel" what I seek. I found this very handy when I began Archery hunting. I could locate lost arrows, or downed game just by "concentration and thought allowing us to FEEL the quarry we seek." I have used the skill for years to locate underground cables, wires, water and yes, even septic lines...
This is a true and real life expereince. It does exist. I feel that not everybody has this ability. It can not be taught or learned if you do not have the natural ability.
By the way, this gift has nothing to do with Satanic Worship, as some beleive. It is a natural tool and ability... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rknm (talk • contribs) 21:14, 13 August 2006
Can you use it to find mis-spelled words ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.37.54.83 (talk) 12:11, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
Hosea Quotation
[edit]Why is Hosea quoted in Latin? That's not the original language. Tarchon 16:59, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
- I've removed the Latin, and made clear the translation quoted is the KJV (a lot of others translate `etz "wood" as "wooden idol" or similar rather than "stock". I didn't think there was much point quoting the Hebrew in this article. Pseudomonas(talk) 23:43, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
Unreferenced
[edit]I added some references and so deleted the
label as it now cites at least some. Don't have a Liddle and Scott handy to chase that one down. Page still needs an awful lot of workWikiLambo (talk) 18:44, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
Dowsing and the like
[edit]The origin of the word has something to do with muscles, I believe. It would appear that rhabdomancy includes pendulum dowsing and talking boards such as the Ouija board — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.95.62.51 (talk) 14:49, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
