The result of the move request was: moved to Renault Megane E-Tech Electric. In hindsight, I'm not sure why I relisted... (closed by non-admin page mover) {{ping|ClydeFranklin}} (t/c) 00:40, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
Renault Megane E-Tech → Renault Mégane E-Tech – Correct name of car. Article was incorrectly renamed earlier. Cf Renault Mégane and see Renault press release. Mr.choppers | ✎ 18:33, 28 March 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. {{ping|ClydeFranklin}} (t/c) 19:02, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
- Comment: As noted by the person who moved the article, the accent is not currently used by Renault at https://www.renault.fr/vehicules-electriques/megane-e-tech-electrique.html and is not used in the independent source at https://www.quechoisir.org/actualite-renault-megane-e-tech-electric-2022-premieres-impressions-n99824/. On the car itself, the name is rendered in all-caps without the accent. — BarrelProof (talk) 21:23, 28 March 2023 (UTC)
- Support per MOS:STYLERET - There seems to be a lack of consistency across both primary and secondary sources regarding the use of an accent here (for example, the Irish Independent and The Times use the accent, while the British Independent does not) and as such I have no stance on which usage is correct, especially given the fact that these two titles are effectively identical from an Anglophone perspective. @BarrelProof:, note that in determining article titles English-language sources generally take precedence. - English-language sources seem even less likely to use the accent than French ones. — BarrelProof (talk) 19:13, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- I'm not sure where I implied that I believed that they would be more likely to. I was just pointing out that Francophone sources aren't really relevant here since the car has received significant coverage from Anglophone reliable sources. I have no strong preference for either spelling. However, the fact remains that many English sources do use the accent, and Renault themselves have used the accent in the English-language press releases. It is also worth noting that several sources I've seen seem to drop accents in headings but retain them in prose, possibly for search-engine-optimisation purposes, which may make the accented version initially appear less common than it actually is. Even if the unaccented version is somewhat more common, it isn't overwhelmingly so, and readers are unlikely to be confused by its presence. I don't see any reason to prefer one usage over the other so far as English Wikipedia's article naming policies go other than WP:TITLECHANGES adaptation of MOS:STYLERET. - Comment: Not sure why the "Electric" was removed from the title, given another Megane E-Tech exists, which is the old PHEV model. Restoring the original title "Renault Megane E-Tech Electric" would create a natural disambiguation. :Andra Febrian (talk) 01:19, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- Scanning through the sources it does seem that this is a part of the car's WP:COMMONNAME, and I would support its restoration. HumanBodyPiloter5 (talk) 13:54, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
- I support adding "Electric" as per Andra and HBP5; I hope that doesn't mean we will have to relist? Mr.choppers | ✎ 20:50, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
