Will it launch?

[edit]

The latest date for launch of this satellite is technically scheduled for July 13th-14th. That means the window opens tomorrow. Any word if this will launch or not?

I'm also curious about if this is deliberately being kept low-key for a reason. --Robert Horning (talk) 03:25, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like last time, they didn't announce the delay until the last minute. Not only that, but the final "progress as planned" update on their website was just 3 days before the planned launch. So, they're likely shy about announcing too much… nevertheless they're following the pattern for another delay. They don't promise anything but a webcast starting 20 minutes before launch, where there's a 3 hour window for launch… Potatoswatter (talk) 06:17, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
At least I found some place with a tad bit of information. The manufacturer of the satellite has a countdown clock to note when it will likely launch: http://www.atsb.my/index.php/project/space-systems/razaksatr.html
If the information there is correct, it won't launch until tomorrow. At least it is some place to look. --Robert Horning (talk) 13:42, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Satellite bus

[edit]

I have added to the article (for the second time) a summary of a web page of a Korean firm that asserts it has (or had) some involvement in the satellite bus used for RazakSAT. It would be great if any other editor wants to discuss this. It would not be so great if an edit from an anonymous IP address again deletes it without providing so much as an edit summary. Current status

[edit]

Is this satellite merely non-functional as an Earth-sensing sat, as the article now seems to indicate has been true since 2010/2011, but still under control? (i.e., has fuel for the RCS system and is being controlled by an operations station)? There is nothing in the article that indicates it is still being controlled; so perhaps, with dead cameras, it may have been passivated and abandoned. Or merely abandoned unpassivated, as many old Russian and US spacecraft were in the early days of spaceflight.

or

is it a derelict, just one of thousands of pieces of human-caused space debris in Earth orbit? The article would be improved by clarifying the current state. N2e (talk) 03:53, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
