Should this page redirect to Heraldry or Rampancy? --DevastatorIIC 04:07, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This page should definitely redirect to Attitude (heraldry), as this is the common use of the word. Note the following Google test results:

"Lion rampant" -wikipedia

  • 124,000 web pages
  • 2,330 books
  • 3,230 scholarly articles

rampant+heraldry -wikipedia

  • 139,000 web sites
  • 1,717 books
  • 3,770 scholarly articles

Nazareth+Rampant -wikipedia

  • 57,100 web sites
  • 616 books
  • 3,160 scholarly articles

"Marathon Trilogy"+Rampant -wikipedia

  • 222 web sites
  • 0 books
  • 0 scholarly articles

Marathon+Trilogy+Rampant -wikipedia

  • 2,610 web sites
  • 2 books
  • 368 scholarly articles

Bungie+Marathon+Trilogy+Rampant -wikipedia

  • 288 web sites
  • 0 books
  • 0 scholarly articles

Note that I excluded any results from wikipedia to avoid skewing the results. Note also that the results of search #5 are inflated, as results must only include the words "Marathon" and "trilogy" anywhere in them, not the phrase "Marathon Trilogy", and most results have nothing to do with Bungie, as evidenced by searches #4 and #6. These results strongly indicate that the heraldic sense of the word "rampant" is the common use in English. As the best coverage of this meaning is to be found at Attitude (heraldry), this is the proper article to redirect to. The Nazareth album is at Rampant (album), per WP:Naming conventions (specifically album titles), and the Bungie thing is totally under the WP:Notability radar. Thus, I am redirecting to the heraldry article with a hatnote to the Nazareth album article, pursuant to WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Wilhelm_meis (talk) 12:03, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
