Suggested Rewording
[edit]As the sidebar already makes clear, the distinction between primary and secondary constraints resides in the Lagrangian formulation, not the Hamiltonian formulation. Therefore, the opening should be changed to reflect that (thereby eliminating the need for the sidebar). I suggest the following or something similar, but will leave it to others to make the changes, if they see fit:
- In Lagrangian mechanics, a primary constraint is a relation between the coordinates and momenta that holds independently of the equations of motion.[2] ... etc. ... The distinction between primary and secondary constraints is no longer relevant when passing over to the corresponding Hamiltonian formulation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:6000:AA4D:C5B8:0:3361:EAF8:97B7 (talk) 22:23, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
