Outdated?
[edit]very outdated article, among many problems, some of the parties listed are not even functioning anymore, perhaps it should be made easier to edit Stalwart Mugwump (talk) 20:57, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
It seems like the content in this article should reflect the elections held about 5 months ago and their effects on the political environment of Israel, instead of showing 4 year old information. --109.160.228.15 (talk) 18:52, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
Zionism
[edit]Considering that Zionism has a heightened relevance in Isreali politics and creates another important dimension, it would be very useful to have the parties listed per their Zionism and also have a paragraph or two about the political and popular support of it, with actual numbers and graphs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.192.19.110 (talk) 12:50, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

change "The political centre (represented in the Knesset by Yesh Atid and Kulanu, and in the past represented by Kadima and Gil)" to "The political centre (represented in the Knesset by Blue and White, and in the past represented by Kadima and Gil)" since Kulanu is no longer and Yesh Atid is part of blue and white Stalwart Mugwump (talk) 21:08, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

Bennett is not the PM anymore
[edit]In the "Prime Ministers since 1996" section it is told that Naftali Bennett is the current prime minister, while he was replaced by Yair Lapid in July 2022 DirtyPotatoEditor (talk) 19:45, 23 October 2022 (UTC)
"Main article" reference
[edit]Is there any reason not to delete "Main article: Israeli legislative election, 2015" between the heading of Section #3 "Political parties and elections" and the section's text? Mcljlm (talk) 02:39, 13 November 2022 (UTC)

1978-1995 New heading
[edit]This significant time period is missing from the article. This nearly twenty year period contains, among other things, the Settler movement, the first Intifada and Oslo - all three having had a major impact on how Israeli politics got to where it is today.
I propose adding the heading and a note requesting a qualified historian submit suggestions for its content.
One example of missing content is PM Yitzhak Rabin and his 1995 assassination. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Yitzhak_Rabin&oldid=1194339910

Why change: because the existing opening paragraph suggests Israeli politics are based on “camps”, in particular Zionist camps. This is in stark contrast to similar Wiki articles “Politics of <name of country>” which universally outline the political system of the country before trying to define ruling ideology. Additionally, Arab and Orthodox are listed last as an “anti Zionist” which is not accurate, since their parties also have platforms, and although not Zionist neither are they anti-Zionist.
I suggest to change the two sentences “ Politics in Israel is dominated by Zionist parties. They traditionally fall into three camps, the first two being the largest: Labor Zionism, revisionist Zionism, and religious Zionism. There are also several non-Zionist Orthodox religious parties and non-Zionist secular left-wing groups, as well as non-Zionist and anti-Zionist Israeli Arab parties.”
To “ Politics in Israel are rooted in parliamentary democracy.[1] The Prime Minister of Israel is the head of government and leader of a multi-party system.[1] Political party view are traditionally Zionist, of both religious and non-religious type (such as Religious Zionism, revisionist Zionism or Labor Zionism), along with sizable Orthodox religious parties, anti-Zionist far-left parties, and Israeli Arab parties of both secular and Islamist types.[2]”

- To add: Arab or Ultra-Orthodox parties represent their Arab or Ultra-Orthodox constituents, and the parties’ platforms are for their constituents first. It is not their stated goal to fight Zionism or Zionist parties, in contrast e.g. to the “anti”relationship between Communists and their traditional rivals Capitalists. So to frame all politics in Israel within the narrow confines of Zionist vs non-Zionist is inaccurate and does injustice to the only functioning democracy in the middle-east. 108.7.208.8 (talk) 18:29, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
