@Gangstaoflove: Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. However, the content you've added to this article is not exactly compliant with Wikipedia rules, and you appear to have a conflict of interest, based on previous versions of your profile page. If there are specific requests you'd like to make to this article, would you mind sharing them here and providing sources to verify each claim? ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:34, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I guess I don’t understand how Willamette Riverkeeper - it’s clear that organization is the author of that article - the writer is floodplains Gangstaoflove (talk) 00:13, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willamette_Riverkeeper

Thanks for applying this same principal to this page. Gangstaoflove (talk) 00:16, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

PS I totally get it - I am an unpaid volunteer also - I have done this work close to full time for the last 8 years.

I will work on drafting something up but please do look at the Willamette Riverkeeper Page - it reads like an advertisement. It’s frustrating - it’s clear it was just done for SEO.

I feel I’m being punished for my openness, honesty and transparency. Gangstaoflove (talk) 01:40, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please, don't. Transparency is much appreciated. Share a sentence you'd like to see added to the article (with sourcing), and I'll review. ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:42, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion my edits that were deleted is an accurate depiction of our work. I would be happy to scan emails to you were we set up partnerships with Honoring our rivers and the confedrerared tribes of grand ronde the numerous articles I sighted talk about the condition of the beach.

If you live locally in Portland I would love to give you a tour of how we have impacted Portland.

The Big Float or River Hugger Swim Team alone are two worthy subjects.

I am not scared to do work. Gangstaoflove (talk) 02:11, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you'll suggest a sentence to add, such as "In 2018, the beach was ... blah blah.", and provide sourcing to prove your claim, I can update this article accordingly. ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:16, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I've reviewed the additions to the article added by Gangstaoflove, and while I have not taken the time to do a point-by-point check through the sources added, it seems like reasonable and neutral material, cited to high-quality sources, to me. I remember reading about some of these things, such as Mayor Wheeler's swim, in the paper when it happened. Another Believer, if we consider the edits made by GoL to be the kind of suggestions you are requesting, do you have specific objections to them? -Pete Forsyth (talk) 22:04, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Peteforsyth: Feel free to update/revert as you see fit. Thanks, ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:05, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Dudes - thank you for looking at my writing - I did take care to do my best to present as neutral. I was unaware that I was not supposed to contribute about myself.

I would love to hook up in person if that is not outside of protocol to talk about Human Access Project, The Big Float and River Hugger Swim Team.

Also up for drafting articles for you guys to review.

Many thanks. Willie Gangstaoflove (talk) 22:15, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I've restored most of what you published, with a few tweaks (and surely there are further improvements that could be made). IMO it's generally a good addition, though having dug into it I can see how Another Believer might have felt that there was a little more emphasis on the organization than this article merits. I reduced it a bit, hopefully it's at a happy medium here. There's no rule prohibiting you from editing the article, but given your close connection to the organization, I think Another Believer is right to urge a bit of caution. I'd suggest that you proceed gradually and seek feedback on your work. I'd love to take you up on a tour sometime, I have been to Poet's Beach and along the Willamette River trail, but I'm sure there's plenty I didn't notice. It seems to me that the article is now more informative, and well sourced, so I thank you for your efforts! -Pete Forsyth (talk) 22:34, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Peteforsyth, Just an FYI, this editor has reached out again and is interested in an article for Human Access Project. Sharing in case you want to help out as well. ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:45, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

[edit]

Thank you Another Believer for creating this article. I wonder if you might consider making a page for Human Access Project, River Hugger Swim Team, The Big Float, Audrey McCall Beach and Kevin Duckworth Dock.

I can provide lots of media sighting for the work of our organization and I believe that Wikipedia could be a helpful source for people learning more about our organization and our contributions to Portland, urban river restoration, reconnecting people to urban rivers, etc.

I can objectively say that our work has impacted Portland and created hope for other cities with urban rivers.

Thank you in advance for your consideration. I am happy to provide you sightings to assist in research.

Willie Gangstaoflove (talk) 23:48, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Gangstaoflove: I posted a note here (at WikiProject Oregon) about your comment/request. We'll see if any volunteers feel compelled to create new entries. In the meantime, if you feel inclined, you can start collecting sources and working on draft articles at Wikipedia:Articles for creation. Or, you can simply create Draft:Audrey McCall Beach, for example, if you want to start writing an entry for other volunteers to review and implement appropriately. ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:42, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Another Believer for flagging this opportunity at WP:ORE, and Gangstaoflove for offering to find sources. I'd be happy to pitch in if you do so. I've added this page to my watchlist, but my watchlist is huge, so feel free to reach out directly if you post links to any sources. -Pete Forsyth (talk) 21:51, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Year of establishment?

[edit]

Should Category:2017 establishments in Portland, Oregon be changed to Cateogry:2000 establishments in Portland, Oregon, then? The source used to verify the claim says, "In 2000, the strip of shoreline was converted into a sandy beach, and a boardwalk was built down to the water as a kayaking launch." Not sure if this is enough to claim 2000 as the year of establishment for Poet's Beach, specifically. There was also a staged opening in 2014. A bit confusing... ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:32, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The source article doesn't make it clear when the name "Poet's Beach" was applied, but I'm guessing it was 2014. I think either 2000 or 2014 would be accurate, though neither would tell the full story. -Pete Forsyth (talk) 22:48, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

River Hugger Swim Team and Kevin Duckworth Memorial Dock

[edit]

PS i would love to do a page for the River Hugger Swim Team and Kevin Duckworth Memorial Dock if you could help set up a stub 🐳🐳😁 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gangstaoflove (talkcontribs) 16:01, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Gangstaoflove, I'd start by collecting sources specifically about either and sharing them at Talk:Human Access Project. You can also try creating a new page from scratch in the draft space, such as Draft:Kevin Duckworth Memorial Dock. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:27, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Gangstaoflove, I made a stub at Kevin Duckworth Memorial Dock. Feel free to share sources and preferred additions on the article's talk page. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:56, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
AB - finally got to Duckworth - thanks for cleaning up my edits.
Any chance you could help me start a stub for the River Hugger Swim Team?
Many thanks 😊 Gangstaoflove (talk) 02:58, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think River Hugger Swim Team content belongs at Human Access Project, until there's enough coverage and detail to flesh out a separate entry. In the meantime, feel free to continue expanding the section. ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:10, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
