Soviet famine
[edit]This report sent from Kremenchuk in the Ukrainian SSR and printed in the Border Cities Star contains an analysis of the Soviet famine of 1932–1933. Yet, the article fails to mention he ever visited the Soviet Union.

(from France) besides the fact that Van Paassen is a highly reliable source there is no doubt that he visited the Soviet Union. In his book Days of Our Years he recalls a passport affair, in 1933 in Munich, which made him to be arrested and even sent for ten days in a camp which appeared to be Dachau ; on p. 206 he precises that one of the first reasons of the Nazi police suspicion was the presence of three Soviet visas on this passport.
