Requested move
[edit]{{movereq|Phantogram (band)}}
- User:NzMattis/Phantogram (band) → Phantogram (band) — I followed the "creating a new page" guidelines and first test ran this topic on my user page. I would like to attempt a move to a live page but need help moving it. I was unable to find the "move" button suggested in the "moving an entry" help page. 22:08, 19 June 2009 User:NzMattis
- If I understand the situation correctly, you could have just copied and pasted the contents of this page to a new page under the desired title. Or maybe not - if you don't see the move button at the top (alongside the other tabs - discussion, edit this page, history), that might mean you're still too new and inexperienced to be trusted with such advanced technology, and you probably aren't allowed to create new articles yet either. (This sounds stupid, but these restrictions are probably necessary in practice - not for people like you, but for certain other types who come here and do strange things.) Anyway, make a few useful edits to articles and after a few days you should find yourself able to perform all these operations - see WP:Autoconfirmed. I'll move the page for you now. Unfortunately there are people who take great delight in deleting articles about bands that they don't consider notable enough, and I don't know the criteria for this, so I can't guarantee that this article will stay around. But I hope you will :) --Kotniski (talk) 10:46, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- Incidentally, could you give a link to the "moving an entry" help page that you refer to? There are so many help pages, often duplicated, that I don't know which one it was, and I would like to look at it to see if it can be made clearer.--Kotniski (talk) 10:53, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for all your help on the move. Here's the help page for moving I referred to above. My first editing experience was a good one so I'll definitely try my luck at it again sometime. --NzMattis —Preceding undated comment added 13:26, 22 June 2009 (UTC).
- No problem, and happy editing! I've edited that help page a bit, to hopefully make it a bit clearer for the future.--Kotniski (talk) 17:16, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

for what it's worth the band has claimed that the name is spelled "with all caps, son!"--69.205.31.117 (talk) 04:40, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Reason for band name change
[edit]I've removed the assertion that the band changed its name "to avoid any potential trademark issues". If you read the interview cited in footnote 12, they state quite clearly that they chose Phantogram because "it's awesome", i.e. for the sound and imagery, and only secondarily because no other band had used it yet. There's no mention of trademarks. - Metalello (talk) 03:24, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Phantogram (band) → Phantogram – WP:TWODABS, make a hatnote for the optical illusion ―Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 03:59, 12 May 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose if anything a phantogram would be WP:PT for phantogram. Not a band named after it optical illusion. Leave as per WP:TWODABS allows. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:39, 12 May 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. I made the original move from Phantogram to Phantogram (optical illusion). That article has the long-term notability, Phantogram (band) has the pageviews, which leaves us with WP:NOPRIMARY. 162 etc. (talk) 15:19, 12 May 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. Tempted to agree with the above point from 162. — Amakuru (talk) 00:01, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
- Weak oppose the optical illusion is likely primary by long-term significance. Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:36, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. Certainly not the primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:10, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
- If this is not the primary topic, would you support moving phantogram (optical illusion)? ―Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 20:26, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
- If we're not sure which topic is primary then its probably best to have no primary topic. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:43, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hence I asked the question. ―Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 21:29, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
- There probably is no primary topic. Neither is especially notable. -- Necrothesp (talk) 23:04, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
