Material from Dr. Paul Garcia's doctoral thesis
[edit]Some of the material in this article is copied verbatim from the doctoral thesis of Paul Garcia. For example, this passage appears in chapter 2:
- This period of sick leave was one of the most significant occurrences in MacMahon’s life. Had he remained in India he would undoubtedly have been caught up in Roberts’s War against the Afghans, a bloody adventure which lasted two years and achieved nothing, neither in a military nor a political sense.
It seems likely that the material appears here with Dr. Garcia's permission, or at least his acquiescence, since someone appearing to be him has edited the article. I am about to try to obtain his formal permission to use this material. —Mark Dominus (talk) 13:02, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

- Thanks. :) I've left you a note at your talk page. I can't find the e-mail in the OTRS system. Pending completion of the process, I've blanked the text. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 10:24, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
Article structure
[edit]There is a clear vio of WP:DUE, with great deal of material on MacMahon's military career and too little on his mathematical work (even his father was more notable from military history POV). This should be corrected one way or another. Mhym (talk) 21:24, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
