More could be added to this page concerning the "incidents". I know because I was incarcerated at the "'formatory" from 1982 until 1991.
In 1985, there was a money order scandal involving officers and inmates, suspicous deaths,sex between inmates and officers, beatings, uninvestigated rapes, officer thefts from commissarry,deniel of medical treatment, etc. And now, sex-offenders are targeted. Thier medical needs are not being met, they are allowed to be beaten and treated like "old state boots" and it contiues without any action taken. This is because the IDOC has decided that sex-offenders are sub-human and not worth the humane treatment that the public demands for other prisoners not convicted of sex-offenses.
