Notability
[edit]Hi Onel5969,
Based on significant news coverage and other independent third party sources it reasonably appears that the template was added in error.
Zafir94 (talk) 00:46, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- I don't think it was added in error. The individual is obviously of dubious notability.--Grahame (talk) 02:48, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
The sources are some of the major Australian and international media outlets that vastly cover the individual and quote the individual's opinion on a number of topics of a large public interest. It does not seem that you have checked the sources.
Additionally, based on the fact that the first in the "Notability" template "Find sources" is "news", and a significant national and international news coverage of the individual is in fact in place, your statement "The individual is obviously of dubious notability" is obviously incorrect. Zafir94 (talk) 04:15, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- Nonsense, it is clearly a matter that can be debated. I didn't place the tag, I was just commenting on the incorrect use of the word "error".--Grahame (talk) 06:56, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
Grahamec, you made a statement "The individual is obviously of dubious notability". As such, it is clear that you were not "just commenting on the incorrect use of the word "error"", as you are saying now.
As for the word "error", that, in your opinion, was used incorrectly: The "when to remove" section clearly states that the Notability tag can be removed "If it reasonably appears that the template did not belong when placed or was added in error". As per statements above re vast news coverage, it is evident that the tag was not meant to be placed in the first place, and as such it was stated in the first comment in Talk that "it reasonably appears that the template was added in error". Zafir94 (talk) 09:04, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- Well, not an error. While there is coverage of the individual, none of it appears to be of the in-depth nature needed to pass WP:SIGCOV. I didn't look at all 19 refs, but of the 11 I did look at, two are primary, 3 do not even mention the doctor, and the other six are not in-depth enough to be considered significant coverage. But now I'll do a complete WP:BEFORE.Onel5969 TT me 12:15, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
onel5969 Your statement "none of it appears to be of the in-depth nature" is incorrect. This article in WA major news outlet is obviously in depth, and this feature in a journal also.
Re your statement "two are primary": Those sources cite the additional pieces of information only, and not used to establish notability.
Re your statement "3 do not even mention the doctor": Those sources cite the important information that are 100% relevant to the topics covered in the article, such as MMA Cage Ban and Danger of Weight Cutting in combat sports. Zafir94 (talk) 00:15, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
CASSIOPEIA, the article Paddy Golden is related to combat sports. You are welcome to join the discussion. Zafir94 (talk) 00:15, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
