Did he walk free?
[edit]Acquitted of murder. But was he convicted of manslaughter? Did he serve time? Valetude (talk) 16:00, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
- Wasn't charged with murder. Was charged with manslaughter; was acquitted on grounds of self-defense. --jpgordon::==( o ) 04:39, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
Any relation?
[edit]Smedley is not the most usual surname. Was he any relation to the ownership/management of Smedley HP Foods Limited - a big name in the UK around 1955-60? Valetude (talk) 23:58, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
- Apparently not. He was the son of William Thomas Smedley, a pioneer of the British film industry and Shakespeare buff. On a tangent, one of the canned food Smedley's was in the news recently for choosing to die in a clinic. And see also John Smedley, who doesn't seem to be related to any of the aforementioned. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 19:07, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
