Sports journalism
[edit]This reads more like a college newspaper article than an encyclopedia entry. ... discospinster 20:40, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- I made some improvements to make it seem more like a Wikipedia article while maintaining objectivity. Tmrobertson 00:22, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- And it seems like some can't live without Wikipedia slobbering over their little cow school. Jeez, and you wonder why no one takes them seriously... Tmrobertson 00:26, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
- This is the worst example of "sports journalism" on Wikipedia I've ever seen. It needs a complete rewrite as its current form is simply riddled with POV language and cheerleading. I'll get to it sometime soon when I have a lot of time. (ESkog)(Talk) 01:31, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- Nobody is slobbering over this "cow school", and most everyone takes us seriously. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.141.77.186 (talk • contribs) 22:40, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- That above comment doesn't make sense. Anyways, this thing is a complete mess and I've tagged it as both needed to be wikipediaized and for NPOV. - Shamrox 23:36, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
Rewrite complete
[edit]Got rid of all the unnecessary bolding, and a lot of the cheerleading. Rewrote pretty much the entire article to try to be free of NPOV. Some of the article still needs some sources, but otherwise I'm much happier with it now than before. Any thoughts/concerns? (ESkog)(Talk) 01:16, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
Merging Oklahoma State University - Stillwater section on athletics to this article
[edit]Clearly OSU athletics has enough depth to warrant its own article. Also, OSU athletics should be mentioned on the university's article. We should have some kind of recap of this article in Oklahoma State University - Stillwater and use {{Main}}. See how Michigan State University handles this. Splitting "Men's basketball" section into its own article
[edit]- VOTE: Oppose - Right now the section isn't big enough to warrant its own article. Splitting it might just be met with a move to merge it back into this article. →Wordbuilder 15:12, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- VOTE: Oppose - Not in its present condition. The BB section needs to be drastically expanded, more about the 1945-1946 championship teams please! If you could get that section expanded, that team alone could be an article by itself. Where are the OSU journalism students? Over at OU? Sad. WikiDon 02:31, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Osu wrestling pete.png
[edit]Image:Osu wrestling pete.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Split football section
[edit]Strongly support. This defiantly should be split from the Oklahoma State Cowboys page. There is plenty of information on the football program. Brandonrush (talk) 23:36, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Support. The section contains enough information to be split into a start-class article. ~ João Do Rio (talk) 04:16, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Support. The basketball section split with less information and, thanks to helpful editors, is turning into a nice article. →Wordbuilder (talk) 13:52, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Hey, guess what! I decided to be bold and I moved the page to Oklahoma State Cowboys football. Actually, I just copied and pasted the football section and added an infobox, but I don't know enough about Okie State to contribute anything of merit. Feel free to revert back, but it seems like everyone agrees this should be moved, no one opposed the move, and this should be like every other college football page. Image copyright problem with File:Osu ath brand.png
[edit]The image File:Osu ath brand.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.
The following images also have this problem:

Big 12 WikiProject
[edit]I'm trying to gauge the interested in created a Big 12 WikiProject and wondering who would like to be involved. There are already pages for WikiProject Big Ten and WikiProject ACC. A Big 12 project would cover the schools themselves and anything to do with conference sports including: events, rivalries, teams, seasons, championships and lore. There is already quite a bit of activity here on Wikipedia regarding the Big 12, and I think a project could help coordinate and unify our efforts. Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Big 12 if you are interested, and add your name to the list. Grey Wanderer (talk) 00:30, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
Women's basketball coach
[edit]Surely some OSU fan can update the section about the WBB coach. It's been several years since the unfortunate plane crash and I'm sure they actually have a coach. 173.202.242.209 (talk) 01:32, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Bad Faith Editing
[edit]Jeff In CA has repeatedly made bad faith unnecessary edits about OSU's 1945 national title claim. The Wikipedia page is simply listing national titles, including individually picked out quotes about the selection process to push his personal opinion on the matter is bad faith editing DylanPuma20 (talk) 19:32, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
The Oklahoman article by Tramel is not accurate
[edit]https://rpr-ratings.com/bonus-content/afca-brc/
“The BRC already compiled the list of teams that would receive retroactive titles from that window. There are 21 years where a single team was named champion, and 7 years where co-champions were named.”
The article quote claims that the AFCA awarded champions based on “proposals” and applications, when in reality, that is not true. WizdomT (talk) 18:25, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- That is not a Reliable Source, the article by Tramel is a Reliable Source, you just don't like the fact that it doesn't say what you want it to say. The fact remains that OSU did in fact apply to the AFCA for consideration, which is proven by a number of Reliable sources. And after careful consideration their application was accepted by the AFCA, and they were awarded a retroactive championship and trophy. Dcheagle • talk • contribs 22:00, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- The article by Tramel is an opinion article. He provided no evidence or sourcing at all for his claims. How is that reliable?
- The fact, which was supported by the source I included, was that applications were simply for the trophy itself, not the championship selection. WizdomT (talk) 22:03, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- The source you submitted, River's RPR, is not a reliable source per WP:RS. And what is a "claim" besides a proposal and application? Jeff in CA (talk) 22:10, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- How is Tramel’s opinion article that fails to source a single claim reliable? You can’t claim my source is unreliable while continually pushing an unsourced opinion article as reliable. WizdomT (talk) 22:22, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- The Daily Oklahoman is a reliable source. Homemade websites are not. Jeff in CA (talk) 22:26, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- So the content of the claim, no matter how accurate, should be allowed simply because of the website it was published on? WizdomT (talk) 22:35, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
