Deletion
[edit]Obadiah gets radio play on the alternative station in Sacramento, which is quite a distance from Scottsdale. He's released a CD, he's an artist. I'm removing the Deletion template. -- R'son-W (speak to me/breathe) 21:34, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- In fact, he's three artists; Obadiah is a band, not a person. Merely removing the template will probably not have the effect that you're looking for, but you might have more luck if you contribute to the discussion on this article's delete page. Consult WP:Music for criteria on notoriety. At first glance, it doesn't seem to be like this band qualifies; unless there's a notable source that can verify radio play, then I don't think there's enough information available about the band to justify an entry. But like I said, that's just based on my first glance. Mattymatt 20:44, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Content?
[edit]Is it just me, or is this article more about Weddle than about Obadiah Parker?
Maybe Weddle should have his own article. Or this one should be retitled and someone should write a new Obadiah Parker one. Jeffholton (talk) 19:53, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
- That's probably a good idea. Are you volunteering? :) --Spike Wilbury ♫ talk 18:05, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
Band broke up, Obadiah Parker is now Mat Weddle's stage name.
[edit]Obadiah Parker the band broke up a while ago (2008ish) and Mat Weddle kept the name Obadiah Parker for his solo act. I'd like to update the article to reflect that. Is it ok to use his press release (available on his website: http://obadiahparker.com/pressrelease.pdf) as the source? Clearly I'm new to editing. I want to change the background to solo_singer, remove the "member's list", edit the opening paragraph to say something like this:
Mat Weddle (born January 3, 1983), better known by his stage and recording name Obadiah Parker, is a Singer-songwriter from Scottsdale, Arizona. Obadiah Parker was previously the name of a three person band composed of Mat Weddle (vocals, guitar), Jessie Young (piano/keyboards, trumpet, vocals), and Daniel Zehring (bass, vocals). Together, the band recorded an EP and a live CD, both of which contain a mixture of covers and original material. As a solo act, Weddle has released an EP of covers and a full-length studio album of original material. Weddle also appeared in a viral YouTube video playing an acoustic cover of Outkast's "Hey Ya".
And maybe also add to the description of The Siren and The Saint to include that it is a concept record about Weddle's experience with pornography addiction (also mentioned in the release).
Can I do that? Also totally open to suggestions.

- Going ahead with the edit. I'm doing an overhaul of the article, making it primarily about Weddle, changing the category, updating and adding facts, attempting to make it flow a bit better. Giving it a bit of TLC. Mama Lisa (talk) 03:29, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
- Also added ext links. Deleted a couple things, rephrased a couple others to make it read better. Mama Lisa (talk) 03:44, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
