Controversies
The first subheading there, lawyers and accountants paid billions, how is that controversial? Was there suggestion of them being overpaid or something? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Driver2man (talk • contribs) 16:50, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- The text was added by this edit. The editor in question often inserted items they felt the public should know about in corporate articles. I agree there is no controversy per se about the amounts spent. The full context from the source, though, is that former Nortel employees lost their severance and retirement benefits, including disability benefits, with the insolvency of the company (as briefly discussed under the section "Treatment of Nortel pensioners"). The amount spent on legal and accounting matters isn't directly related but it contributes to the frustration felt by those affected. isaacl (talk) 23:33, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
So I've looked into this, and it's even less controversial than I initially thought. The employees made a Court application to have their benefits reinstated and lost. There's no suggestion at all that anything untoward happened. You can read the Judge's decision and it's quite reasonable. It sucks for those people, but life sucks. I don't think this belongs under controversies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Driver2man (talk • contribs) 18:27, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
