Emmy Awards for Los 17 and 100,000

[edit]

Is there any evidence/references that the films produced by Mr. Quiñones, Los 17 and 100,000, received Emmy Awards? Looking at their respective IMDB pages (Los 17, 100,000), there's no indication that they received any such award. Furthermore, going through some of the Emmy Award pages (listed below), I couldn't find either movie listed. I saw in the history of the article that there is a picture of Mr. Quiñones holding an Emmy Award, but no further evidence that it is his, or from either of those movies.

@Dfgasser: Any good references to show the award winning? Balon Greyjoy (talk) 23:32, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I will get the appropriate references. Please bear with me for a couple of days. ˜˜˜˜ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dfgasser (talkcontribs) 18:09, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have contacted the Suncoast chapter of the NATAS for references to the 2011 and 2012 Emmy Awards. That should resolve your concern.--Dfgasser (talk) 18:23, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have published a short paragraph on your talk page detailing what I have learned about this. Both Emmys are genuine but you will see why I have a problem linking the statements to external supporting sources. Please take a look so that your valid concerns can be satisfied. --Dfgasser (talk) 01:19, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Noel Quiñones Emmy Awards

[edit]

Note: Dfgasser's comment originally appeared on User talk:Balon Greyjoy, and I have copied it to the article's talk page. Balon Greyjoy (talk) 08:26, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As promised, I have done some research. I need your advice. I contacted Karla MacDonald, the Executive Director of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS)Suncoast Chapter. The NATAS is the organization that awards the Emmy. She told me that Noel, along with Juan Augustin Márquez, won the 2011 Regional Documentary - Topical Emmy for "Los 17". In 2012, Juan Augustin Marquez and Casa Grande Interactive (the company owned by Noel Quiñones and Soraya Sesto) were awarded an Emmy for the same category, Documentary - Topical. Karla MacDonald explained that NATAS Suncoast Chapter suffered a loss of web data and that is why there are only links to winners from 2013 and beyond. She can provide an official letter confirming the awards but how could that be used to support the statement? I would like your advice on how to proceed. Thank you. --Dfgasser (talk) 19:30, 2 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Dfgasser: I'll look around to see if there is any guidance on citing offline personal correspondence; I'm not sure how to accomplish this. On a somewhat unrelated note, I would recommend that you note in his article that his Emmy Award was either a "Suncoast Emmy" or a "Regional Emmy" (or something similar). I don't want to downplay his accomplishments, but I think just saying "Emmy Award" implies that he received one of the more well-known Emmy Awards (such as Primetime or Daytime), which was how there was confusion on my end when I didn't see his movies pop-up on any Emmy Award lists. Thanks for following up on this information. Balon Greyjoy (talk) 08:26, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Dfgasser: I think the answer here is to treat the Emmy awards as uncited information. I understand your frustration in not being able to include this information, because he presumably did win those awards, but unpublished information can't be treated as a reliable source. On a related note, a lack of published information is indicative of notability of the award itself. Not to diminish his achievement for winning the award, but how notable of an award is it if a single website losing data removes any record of him winning said award? Balon Greyjoy (talk) 00:20, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the Emmy Award information from the prose of the article, but have left them in the table of awards, as the Emmy Awards were singled out in the prose, but not in the table, where none of the awards have a citation. Additionally, I removed much of the promotional tone/editorialized information, and removed the advert tag. Balon Greyjoy (talk) 02:35, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Balon, thank you. I had just made a response to another observation of yours without having seen the above. I am more than happy to include more specific information about the Sun Coast chapter. But, Quiñones should not be penalized in terms of documentation because the Sun Coast had a web failure. It is not up to me to judge the importance of the award because they don't manage their assets well enough. Regional or not, an Emmy is an Emmy. Not everything is primetime or daytime. I will treat them as uncited and revise the wording to reflect the regional nature of the awarding authority. How's that? Thanks. Dfgasser (talk) 19:29, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Dfgasser: I understand your frustration at being unable to properly cite the information about the Emmy, but the rules are clear about no original research. I don't dispute whether Mr. Quiñones has received these awards, but information should be properly referenced. As someone who has disclosed being paid on behalf of Mr. Quiñones, I encourage you to be extra careful about making uncited claims that are promotional in nature. On a larger note, I think the focus for article improvement should be on improving the references as a whole, not just the awards that Mr. Quiñones has received. Currently, the only reference is for the city of Aguadilla receiving an award for its improved graduation rates. Doing a Google search for Mr. Quiñones doesn't reveal any sources of information (besides those that have copied the information from his Wikipedia page); do you have some published sources to cite about him?
