Hi Riley1012, I'm happy to review this in the next few days. I notice a lack of images. I assume you tried to find some but none with suitable rights exist? Edwininlondon (talk) 21:29, 12 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for the review. Unfortunately, there are no images available. -Riley1012 (talk) 00:18, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Prose

[edit]

Although not riveting, the text does do the important things (neutral point of view, to the point). Coverage is good. Just some comments:

  • normally there are no references in the lead. Is there a reason you have [1]?
[1] is the reference for the date of birth per WP:DOB
My interpretation of MOS:LEADCITE: only if the claim is likely to be challenged is a ref in the lead needed. I don't think that is the case here, am I right? The Early life section has the birthdate, sourced, so no need in the lead.
Makes sense to me, I've removed the source from the lead. -Riley1012 (talk) 02:05, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Belgian --> the guideline is not to make country names links
     Done
  • She is also the 2019 European Games champion on the balance beam as well as --> I'd put a comma before as well as
     Done
  • all-around champion --> is there a good destination for this to be a link?
     Done added
  • At the 2020 Olympics, she led team Belgium to their first-ever team final where they finished eighth --> given that the previous sentence was about Olympics in general and not gymnastics, I think this sentence needs a gymnastics somewhere
     Done
  • the word "also" appears 3 times in the lead. In general it is hardly ever needed.
     Done
  • is a former football player --> add professional and a link
Added professional. Nico Derwael does not have a page on the English Wikipedia. Should I add Nico Derwael [nl]?
  • link all the sports
     Done
  • She began gymnastics --> should be a link and is there a reason why this is not artistic gymnastics, like in the lead?
Done no reason, it's fixed now
  • finished eighth in the all-around --> all-around should either be a link or explained
     Done link added
  • eighth in the uneven bars event final --> uneven bars should be a link (see MOS:LINK
     Done
  • uneven bars, balance beam --> link balance beam
     Done
  • She represented Belgium at the 2016 Summer Olympics --> may I suggest you add where these were held?
Done, I added it for 2020 Olympics too
  • At the 2016 Games, did she do anything at the uneven bars individual event?
Done She was the third reserve for the final. I added that information.
  • overall, in the whole article, there are 16 cases of "then". Sometimes they are too close to each other (2017: First World medal has 5). See if you can rephrase or simply drop it.
     Done
  • (Stalder to Tkatchev with 1/2 turn) --> any links here would help the user
     Done
  • During the uneven bars final, Derwael scored 15.233, earning the gold medal and defending her World title on the uneven bars --> that's twice "uneven bars". One of them should suffice.
     Done
  • on the third season Belgium's Dancing with the Stars --> I suspect there is an "of" needed before Belgium
     Done

Sources

[edit]

Reliable sources. Formatting okay. Just these comments:

  • The Competitive history section is missing references
     Done
  • language=nl tag missing for source 1
     Done
  • some Dutch sources miss a trans-title tag
     Done
  • spotcheck: 1 2 28 37 38 54 88 all check out fine
  • 9 doesn't quite tell me it is her debut. Is there another source to add?
Would the source I added (10) suffice? It lists her competition scores and if you scroll down you can see 2013 Eilte Gym Massilia was the first one
    Yes, ok
  • 89 suggests to me that we should probably add "shared with cyclist Wout van Aert"
Wout van Aert won the Sports Man award and Derwael won the Sports Woman award

Media

[edit]

Nothing with appropriate rights that can be added?

  • Nope

That's all I could see. Overall, it looks good. Edwininlondon (talk) 21:04, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • I believe that this now meets the GA criteria. Promoting. Too bad there is no appropriately licensed photo of her. I am no legal expert but perhaps someone who is can see if WP:FAIRUSE applies. I don't think so. Anyway, nice work overall, well done! Edwininlondon (talk) 13:19, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
