Several things has been removed from the article, some sourced and with no discussion, titled Dyk-fixes. Why, some explanation.
Like this: Church was selected to represent the USA at the International Exposition (1867) in Paris and possibly intended to participate with this painting. Actually he did participated with this painting, it is in the text beside the painting I just saw - it is on display at the Scottish National Gallery, since I visited Edinborough for a week ago.

No. The editor misread the notice. It says the painting was commissioned possibly for exhibition at the 1867 Exposition. In the event it was the original painting in the series, Niagara now in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, that was exhibited (along with Church's Rainy Seasons in the Tropic now in the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco). See Exposition Universelle de 1867 à Paris Catalogue général publié par la Commission Impériale 1e livraison: oeuvres d'art Groupe I Classes, 1 à 5 p. 241. It is a great pity the starting editor for the article did not think to make the original immensely popular NGA painting the subject of the article and they were quite wrong to describe the National Gallery of Scotland version as the most famous of the group. Indeed difficult to understand how an editor presumably knowledgeable about Church could make such an error. 86.155.145.56 (talk) 06:22, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
