[edit]Is this article, which is used several times in the New Berlin, WI Wiki article, really even close to NPOV? Or legitimate? It seems to be a bit of a fluff piece about one sordid episode in a school's history with a number of questionable "facts". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.89.8.225 (talk) 05:22, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
External Links
[edit]While it might not form to the proper guidelines, I think that the article is better off with the external links, as it refers the reader to additional information that he or she might not find elsewhere. BirdValiant 23:58, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
- BirdValiant, thank you for thoughts. While I do respect your opinion on the matter, I do mostly but respectfully disagree. I have been reverting additions to the external links for the last couple of days by the anonymous user 75.86.248.96. Originally, the additions started by adding a controversial former alderman's blog and representing it as the "official blog for the city of New Berlin." After a revert, the additions included other New Berlin-related sites including the "official" New Berlin blog. I viewed this as nothing more than a ploy by the user to make the addition more palatable. All the links can be quickly found by Google searches or looking at posters (i.e. the veterans memorial) inside the city. Overall, the following should be done with the links:
- New Berlin Live Blog... - advertising; should be removed sheerly for that reason
- New Berlin Veterans Memorial - could agree to its inclusion but it should be integrated into the article
- New Berlin Chamber of Commerce - advertising for local business; should be removed
- New Berlin Public Library - could agree to its inclusion however it can be found in two clicks on the city site; feel that it has limited usefulness
- New Berlin Now - advertising; should be removed sheerly for that reason
- Please not that I will refrain from a revert of the page until there is a response to this topic or two days pass.

Which school is better, New Berlin West or New Berlin Eisenhower?
Economy Section
[edit]Do we really need the economy section? It seems more like an advertisement for the banshe company..? --Jjegers (talk) 17:15, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- The economy section is just becomming an advertising section and has been removed. Jjegers (talk) 15:34, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
"Area residents put the accent on the first syllable of Berlin /nuːˈbɜrlɨn/, rather than on the second. They originally put the accent on the second syllable making it sound like the German city. However, during World War II they changed it to disassociate themselves with Germany."
Seems dubious to me. The entire population changed its pronunciation of their town in the period of a few years? More likely that as the original immigrants assimilated they began to pronounce 'Berlin' as other Americans. Burghardts (talk) 07:49, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
Add Savitri Devi and George Rockwell to the article?
[edit]Savitri Devi and George Lincoln Rockwell are reportedly buried in New Berlin. Should they be added to the article? If yes, then in the history section, or would it be better to make an entirely new section?--Adûnâi (talk) 15:32, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- If there are credible sources to back up these claims then yes it should be added but with some contextualizing information as to who they are. Middle Mac CJM (talk) 21:17, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
- I looked into this topic a little further and in the Savitri Devi article as it currently stands there is the claim that Savitri Devi's ashes are buried in New Berlin, Wi. The citation for this fact is a book called Black sun : Aryan cults, Esoteric Nazism, and the politics of identity / Nicholas Goodrick-Clarke (cited below). I borrowed the book from a library to double check this claim. On page 105 the author writes, "Invited by Matt Koehl to lecture before New Order audiences in the United States, Savitri Devi died on 22 October 1982 while visiting an old friend en route in England. Colin Jordan sent Tony Williams and two other young British Nazis, all dramatically dressed in black, to the simple cremation ceremony at Colchester, Essex. By a prior arrangement, an inscribed urn containing Savitri Devi’s ashes was sent to Matt Koehl, who placed them in the New Order hall of honor in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, allegedly next to those of Lincoln Rockwell. Thus did Savitri Devi, the nomadic pan-Aryan Nazi and Hitler worshipper, enter the neo-Nazi Valhalla of the former American Nazi Party"

- Okay, so that section is followed by a superscript note (Chapter 5 note 48) that when you look in the back of the book just includes the following citation: Searchlight, No. 91 (January 1983), p. 3; Searchlight, No. 97 (July 1983), p. 10.
- I don't what that source is but if anybody could look into it further that would be much appreciated.
- Milwaukee is vaguely brought up multiple times in the book and I do wonder if "Milwaukee" is being used instead of New Berlin? But who knows?! If anybody has more information on this please let me know! Middle Mac CJM (talk) 00:09, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

Addition of the Environment Section
[edit]Today on March 22nd, I added the environment section to the New Berlin, Wi wikipedia page and added info about the recent oil spill as I felt that it was very relevant. This is my first time editing wikipedia and on my end my edit is in a strange box with an inconsistent font and font size. If anybody could help me fix that I would appreciate it. Image included
[edit]I see that an image of the Freewill Baptist Church was added to the article. I think that if it is to be included there should be some context about the Freewill Baptist Church elsewhere in the article. At least a sentence or two. Otherwise, it is not clear why it is included without clicking the linked page. Middle Mac CJM (talk) 21:19, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
Closure of Glen Park Elementary School Discussion
[edit]On November 23rd, 2024 I added a paragraph to the article about the closure of Glen Park Elementary School within the School District of New Berlin (SDNB). On November 25th, 2024 User @Sandcat555 reverted my edit due to "Non notable information". While I appreciate wanting to not overload the city article with unimportant information I do feel that the information that I did add was quite notable. I understand that the closure of Glen Park may not be notable enough to warrant it's own article but I do feel that it is notable enough to include within a larger article. I understand that this topic may in theory be better suited under the SDNB article but it is currently a stub and I feel that it would be odd if this was the only information besides the current list of schools on the SDNB article page. Furthermore, I feel that the closure of Glen Park is notable because it led to the first time that elementary school students that went to Eisenhower Middle and High School and elementary school students that would be going to West Middle and High School would be combined in the remaining elementary schools. I would love for others to weigh in with their thoughts and opinions though!
Sincerely
