The FNP withdrew from the the race before the 1982 elections. Also, the alliance with the PLD was formalized in 1993. This resulted in Vincho running for Senator of Santo Domingo and Pelegrin running for first deputy. The former lost but the latter won the seat which he keeps to this day.
