Cleanup
[edit]I added a significant amount of information and a few sources in my last edit but did not have enough time to edit the information for readability. The article, while developing, seems to need a cleanup in addition to filling out some of the missing information. CRobey 05:17, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
National Climate Information Centre
[edit]Could somebody who knows how add a disambiguation page? National Climate Information Centre (NCIC) Thanks hrf (talk) 15:59, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
Validity section
[edit]The validity section seems like a soapbox for the folks at http://epic.org to push their agenda. It is very weakly sourced with their petition and a criticism piece from a law journal. Since remarkable claims require remarkable sources, I believe that section should be scrapped. Toddst1 (talk) 14:05, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
- If there's no big validity problem, why did the Justice Department take the time to exempt the system from the accuracy requirements that had been binding since the 70's? It seems silly to challenge a fact that's verifiable by looking in the legislative record. --{{U|Elvey}} (t•c) 02:33, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
Property Files - Public access claims
[edit]According to archiveDOTtoday/Cu4Cd, Recipero's "Trace is the largest database of property reported stolen to America's law enforcement agencies." It's a database managed by Recipero, who apparently handle the equivalent database for the UK; there's evidence to support that. Recipero claims to have access to the NCIC property files: "Trace to continue to provide free public access to the FBI Stolen Articles File..." per http://www.tracechecker.com/trace_news.php. The accuracy/validity of the Recipero property databases, at least, is very shitty in my experience: it fails to include many items that were reported as stolen DIRECTLY to Recipero. --{{U|Elvey}} (t•c) 02:33, 24 October 2014 (UTC) (updated)
- I see this claim that Trace provides access to the FBI Stolen Articles File/NCIC property file as fraudulent. I have a week-old email from a local LEO (Law Enforcement Officer) stating that a cell phone has been entered into the NCIC. When I search trace for it, whether by IMEI, Serial Number or ICCID, Trace reports no NCIC records indicate it was reported as stolen. --Elvey(t•c) 19:49, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
