stepfather name question

I have named William Nelson of Yorktown as his stepfather, per most of the sources I consulted (some of which named future governor Thomas Nelson as his stepbrother), but a few (including findagrave.com) say Elizabeth Carter Burwell remarried Dr. George Nicholas, so that patriot, lawyer and appellate judge Robert Carter Nicholas was his stepbrother (and governor William Cary Nicholas his step-nephew, if such word exists).Jweaver28 (talk) 13:11, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
