There's no discussion for user:4lepheus B4ron's proposal to merge Doustioni into Natchitoches, but I support the merge since it's unlikely the Doustioni article could ever be expanded much. Perhaps the Doustioni could have their own distinct section within Natchitoches. Yuchitown (talk) 17:03, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Yuchitown[reply]
I too support the merging of the Doustioni article to this article since I feel like the information about the Doustioni can be read here. 4lepheus B4ron (talk) 06:36, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I noticed that the section about the Natchitoches people states that descendants of the Natchitoches are enrolled in the federally recognized Caddo Nation of Oklahoma. While this is partially true in a historical context, it is misleading as it does not acknowledge the current status of the Natchitoches Tribe of Louisiana. The Natchitoches Tribe of Louisiana is a distinct, state-recognized tribe with its own enrollment process, constitution, and community. As an enrolled member of this tribe, I can confirm that our membership and governance are separate from the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma. I believe this section could benefit from clarification to provide a more accurate representation of the Natchitoches people today. Additionally, I would suggest mentioning our annual powwows and other cultural practices to give readers a fuller picture of our community. I'd appreciate input from other editors on how best to update this section. Thank you!
