Unofficial Mohali image
[edit]- Hi Sukh, and thanks for the friendly welcome. I see that you have removed the logo banner for Mohali, and while respecting your right to do so, I am afraid I have taken issue with it, and would like to lobby for its return. I understand that no other city pages have an opening banner. While this convention seems to be universal, sometimes you must think in new ways to better the end product. As Wikipedia is not a traditional encyclopedia, I do not feel that articles must adhere to the rules set out by paper encyclopedias. It is web-based, and in my experience, web pages with creative title banners reflecting the subject matter (Mohali), as well as its context (India) create more of an aesthetic appeal. The banner does not break any wikipedia rules (Wikipedia:Be bold in updating pages), looks nice, and accurately introduces the subject in a way that words cannot. Jaskaramdeep 19:59, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- I personally think it's inappropriate. Not because it's a banner or logo, but because it's not an official banner or logo. It would be much more appropriate to have a seal, or motto or something like that on the right hand side.
- You're welcome to get input from other Wikipedians and I won't object if there is a consensus. However, I doubt other people would like it if I got a London logo, slapped a red bus on one side and a beefeater on the other, and stuck it at the top of London! I hope you appreciate my point.
- PS - If you have any pictures of Chandigarh/Mohali they would be appreciated! Thanks. Sukh | ਸੁਖ | Talk 20:56, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- The thing is, I've racked through hundreds of websites trying to find exactly that, without success. The only motto I could find was "The IT capital of India", and that can't be right; that's Bangalore. I'm assuming hyperbole with the London reference, but still the point can be made that if London didn't already have a coat of arms, it wouldn't be inappropriate to have the word LONDON flanked by an English flag and a Unicorn. Nonetheless, I'll ask around if you still feel it's wrong, just let me know Jaskaramdeep 21:20, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

- The dispute is whether or not to include Image:Mohali logo.png, created by User:Jaskaramdeep, as a part of the Mohali article à la this edit. I'd like to commend both parties for maintaining great Wikiquette, and Jaskaramdeep in particluar for contributing robustly to the development of the article. As for my opinion: despite the creator's artistic skill and good intentions, the image remains unofficial and unconnected to Mohali except through himself. Therefore the image should not be included. - Draeco 06:29, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

about getting district name
[edit]hi this is sumeet i have read your article it was amazing but yo have missed the main thing that how and when mohali gets its district level image. mohali has been established from last 2-3 decades but how it becomes district and when. also you have mentioned places for visit are not in mohali they are in chandigarh panchkula so you should mention the places that are originally in mohali and are amazing to visit —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.162.10.243 (talk) 14:48, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Rain & Thunderstorm (talk) 15:15, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- Its original name is Mohali and SAS Nagar name was given much later.
- Officially, in government records its name is Mohali and SAS Nagar is name of district
name reason
[edit]what is mohali means —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.193.141.59 (talk) 16:54, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
- Mohali means settlement. It was settlement of Rajputs earlier which was taken over by Sikhs and became part of Sikh Empire.

Change in Name
[edit]I plan to move the article to new name of Mohali i.e. Ajitgarh. Does anyone has any problem?Vigyani (talk) 14:31, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
Move done. Vigyani (talk) 17:52, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
Bad Redirection. Till things are not official; we shall not take such steps. Officially, Mohali is name of City. SAS Nagar is name of district. Ajitgarh is not used.
