Closing date of school

The article states that the school closed in 1912.

I have a signed statement attesting to my mother's birth date written in 1928 on stationary with the heading "Middlebury Academy and Wyoming Union School." It is signed "Earle J. Owen, Principal." This seems to contradict the information in the article.
