The result of the move request was: Withdrawn, per User:Jax 0677. (closed by non-admin page mover) 162 etc. (talk) 16:27, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

- Since Michael Larson (businessman) is the only extant actual article with such a name (according to this disambiguation page), doesn't it become the primary topic by default? — Fourthords | =Λ= | 21:45, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- Reply - Not necessarily, however, I am willing to entertain moving Michael Larson (businessman) to Michael Larson. --Jax 0677 (talk) 22:23, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose, Michael Larson is a justified primary redirect. 162 etc. (talk) 23:52, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- Reply - How is Michael Larson a justified primary redirect? --Jax 0677 (talk) 00:29, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- Per WP:DPT, we determine a primary topic per pageviews and long-term significance. Michael Larson's appearance on Press Your Luck is more notable than anything Michael Larson (businessman) has done, and pageviews for the game show contestant are over 70%. See also Talk:Michael Larson#Requested move 22 March 2024. 162 etc. (talk) 04:39, 2 May 2024 (UTC)

- Oppose, he is the primary topic per 162. While here, also speedy revert the move away from "Michael Larson" that did not find consensus at WP:RM. To state again: this was not a scandal, there are sources on Michael Larson the person, there is zero indication that Larson "cheated". Actually, looking more closely, this wasn't even a move but a copy and paste! Revert everything here. SnowFire (talk) 14:03, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- Procedural comment: I've undid the bold redirect (which, if done at all, it'd have been nice if the RM participants had at least been pinged...). diff . Presumably this means that if this RM were to close as move (I don't think it should), then the article restored to Michael Larson would move to Michael Larson (game show contestant) or the like. SnowFire (talk) 14:07, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- From Category:Contestants on American game shows, Michael Larson (game show contestant) seems the logical choice, as John Carpenter (game show contestant), though in the case of Jeopardy!, "(Jeopardy! contestant)" has been used several times, e.g. Julia Collins (Jeopardy! contestant). I've restructured this as a multi-move request. – wbm1058 (talk) 19:13, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- It seems like the outcome of this discussion is predicated on whether "Michael Larson" is an article or a redirect. When Jax 0677 began this discussion, "Michael Larson" was a redirect to Press Your Luck scandal. That redirection was undone by SnowFire (with the false claim of its contents having been copied and pasted elsewhere), who is advocating for the event to instead be merged into the WP:BIO1E. SnowFire's discussion about this is located at Talk:Press Your Luck scandal#Separate articles, and probably needs resolving first, since that will probably dictate opinions here. — Fourthords | =Λ= | 20:31, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- Whether an article or redirect, WP:DPT applies. The status quo, where Michael Larson is a primary redirect and Michael Larson (businessman) is parenthetically disambiguated, does not violate any Wikipedia policies or guidelines. 162 etc. (talk) 16:43, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- Reply - I am also OK with keeping Michael Larson (disambiguation) and Michael Larson where they are, so long as the latter remains as an article about the person. --Jax 0677 (talk) 23:55, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- You may want to consider withdrawing this RM while the discussion at Talk:Press Your Luck scandal unfolds. 162 etc. (talk) 16:44, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
