Orphaned references in Merv Harvey
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Merv Harvey's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 03:52, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Nice article, just a few very minor points. I'll put it on hold but no problems passing it once everything's done.
Early years I realise much of this is the same as The Harvey family, but a couple of things I missed before.
- "The Harveys played another form of cricket in their concreted backyard (using a marble instead of a ball) that sharpened their reflexes,[2] and a miniature bat." A bit muddled here, I think. Either the brackets should go, or the info about the bat should go inside.
- "The club had a program whereby they gave a medal to local schools to award to their best cricketer in their ranks, who would then be given access to all of the club’s facilities.": Did every school get a medal, or just the best cricketers from several schools? Also, a bit too much going on in the sentence, a few too many "to"s. Perhaps: "The club awarded medals to the best local school cricketers who were then given access to all of the club's facilities."
First-class beginnings
- "first innings points": possibly need to explain that this is for a first innings lead.
- "Harvey enlisted at Fitzroy...": (presumably in the RAAF) possibly needs to go at the start of the paragraph.
Post-war resumption and only Test
- Was Brown out for the whole season or just for the match Harvey played? If the latter, this paragraph is a bit out of place here. Either way, I think it needs specifying.
- whole season for Brown YellowMonkey (bananabucket!) 03:59, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Who regarded the 136 as his best innings?
- er, both books YellowMonkey (bananabucket!) 03:59, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- "Merv made 30 and 44, failing to capitalise on his starts to make a big score with a Test vacancy beckoning after incumbent opener Sid Barnes was injured" Slightly run on sentence.
- "the part-time medium pace..." Maybe a bit vague for the non-specialist. Medium pace of occasional bowler Yardley?
Final seasons
- Does Christmas need linking?
General
- Needs PERSONDATA.
- Image is fine, but lacks a source. I think it may be an issue if the article goes any further.
- actually, post 1946, so not fine YellowMonkey (bananabucket!) 03:59, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Sources fine.
Done the rest YellowMonkey (bananabucket!) 03:59, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Happy to pass now. --Sarastro1 (talk) 19:33, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
