Origin of Name
[edit]The article says: "According to What's in a Name?: The Story Behind Saskatchewan Place Names by E. T. Russell, the city was named for Charles Melville Hays." Russell is an amateur local historian whose guesses are often good, but they are not always reliable. He doesn't explain why on Earth people who wanted to honour Mr Hayes would name the town "Melville" instead of "Hays" - that's like honouring JFK by calling a town "Fitzgerald". I hope someone can either find out what the true origin of the name is, or show more decisiveness than me and delete this baffling example of dubious folk etymology. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.17.154.153 (talk) 01:05, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
- Russell is actually a school teacher, and this book was a class assignment. Students wrote letters to various authorities and contacted the local places to gather information for this book.SriMesh | talk 10:18, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- Added another citation regarding Melville's namesake from Bill Barry - both of his books substantiate that claim of E.T. Russell.SriMesh | talk 03:14, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Removed anonymously
[edit]This was removed by someone. Should it be removed or remain?]
- Terry Puhl- Baseball Outfielder. Terry holds the major-league record for career fielding percentage (.993) by an outfielder in 1,000 games or more. He played 5 different seasons without making an error.diffSriMesh | talk 10:15, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
Pearl Park
[edit]While that may have once been it's name, it's no longer known as Pearl Park, so having this name in the infobox is confusing to readers. I have removed it. The "Other Names" field is only to be used for current alternate names. 68.146.81.123 (talk) 12:25, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
Distance from Regina and Saskatoon
[edit]Why are the distances give primarily in miles with kilometers being bracketed? Especially considering that we dropped the imperial system years ago. I think this needs to be changed. Acid 1 (talk) 01:14, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Photos
[edit]I've gone thought and added more photos to sections as well added a gallery at the bottom of the page for excess photos. (Kappakapa (talk) 20:52, 1 January 2015 (UTC))
