Starting sources about the painting and context

Content Overview: Title of the painting (Mediterranean Sea View 2017), the author (Banksy), and a short description of the painting.

Description

This section will provide more information about what the painting displays (regarding the Mediterranean Sea). This section will also contain information about where the painting was created, where it was originally hung (The Walled Off Hotel), and a brief description of Banksy.

Materials and Artistic Design

Here, I plan to describe the use of oil paintings and triptychs; connecting their significance to Banksy’s painting. The Mediterranean Sea View 2017 uses three different classic oil paintings of the Mediterranean Sea, strategically adding life buoys across the three elements that form the triptych.

Auction and Sale

Here, I want to describe the purpose behind the donation and sales of the painting (raising money to purchase children’s rehabilitation equipment for Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation), the Sotheby's auction where it was sold, and how much money was raised.

Interpretations

Linking quotes connected to the Mediterranean Sea View 2017 and other paintings created by Banksy that relate to the violence in Palestine and Israel.
