[edit]I say no. I didn't write the article and don't know much about its subject, but a treaty signatory and a prominent chief, I think the notability is there. I would imagine the sources are too. If anything we need more articles about Indian leaders, not fewer. Leo1410 13:37, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

I DID write this entry. Frankly, as a treaty signatory and as someone having a city named for you calls for expansion rather than deletion.
Name meaning
[edit]Looking on the web, most all the sites seems to say "Big Bear" but the word for "big" is not in the name. Other sites (far fewer than the first) claim his name means "Bear Cub" but it doesn't sound quite right to me. For any chance, could the meaning of his name be "Have a Bear's Foot" (OJI: makwazide, POT: mkozdé)? Have anyone come across a citation suggesting this or some other translation of his name?
