About Endorsements
[edit]It's probably better if it is discussed--don't let an edit war start. Put the opinions here.
It seems to me that citing Featured Articles was actually a good justification as they exmemplify how articles are written. Personally, I think the endorsements should not be considered advertisements -- they are part of articles about a band/group/singer; they demonstrate part of what these people have done or participated in (and, yes, I think the show notability and many show what companies have sponsored them). To me, the sections are not telling people to buy or support anything (there are no external links, for one); they are there to add upon another aspect of these people.
Perhaps a solution/compromise would be to forgo the list format. Instead, the article may include parargraphs on major endorsements that affect the these people (ie. notablitiy, image, etc.).
Any opinions? Dessymona (talk) 09:31, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

I was also wondering what to do with the "maygazines," as some of them also include words by the members themselves or by other authors (such as for 萬里狂奔), but some of them are mostly pictures.

Thanks for helping with the edit
[edit]No problem, thanks for pointing out that Ashin only helped S.H.E by appearing in their music video and for 'loaning' their band name to their song. And, it's fine if you want to change the Chinese to all traditional characters to make it more standard.
About the books part, I believe Stone has co-written a book with his wife called <<我的摇滚妈咪>> about their marriage and raising their son. It's due in May so I think it would be good to include that as well.
Other than that, I'm still hoping that someone can help with the evolution of Mayday's musical style and how some of their musical techniques have changed over the years.

some more edit
[edit]Good job, Sh0rtcake, on the editting. It complies to the Mandarin version of the Mayday page, so that's great too. I added tiny bits of information, changed some English ablum titles to the official ones and also tried to clarify the "Born to Love" concerts. As for Guan You's name, I believe he mentioned usng "Ryan" once in an interview somewhere. However, since Guan You's the one that's usually used,I think it would make sense to stick with it. I'm thinking of getting a table or list of books that they (or members of them) have released, so I'll attempt to add that if no one does.
And, I was thinking, would it be better if the Chinese on the page is all traditional, so that it's more "organized as a whole?" I've changed some of them so far. But if anyone minds, feel free to say something.

Editing Done
[edit]Just some updates on what I've done.
1. Included Mayday's musical influences/musical style. So far, based on my own knowledge of their songs and some other sources, this is the best I've come up with. If anyone has anything else to add, please do.
2. Divided their band history into seven distinct periods. I felt that the Final Home concerts should stand on their own as it was a major worldwide concert tour, something that Mayday had only attempted once before.
3. Cleaned up the members' section. Some of the paragraphs were added by me and I've removed them in view of Wiki's comments that they were trivial details. Accordingly, if anyone wants to revive those paragraphs, maybe they would fit in better under the individual members' pages.
4. Retained Guan You instead of Ryan as the heading for Mayday's drummer. As far as I am aware, Guan You has not changed his name to Ryan. However, if anyone can support the name-change with a source, please feel free to edit.
5. Divided the discography into two parts. I've retained the link to Mayday's main discography page as it's too long to list. However, I've put in two summaries of Mayday's studio and live albums.
6. Put the major concerts into a table. I've arranged the major concerts according to year and added some of the original comments in the 'notes' section of the table. So far, the list does not include overseas concerts and IMO it's unnecessary to add them in because the list becomes too long.
7. Included Mayday's awards and accolades. I got most of them from an online source and the Chinese Mayday page. These are only some of the more major awards Mayday have received so if anyone has anymore to add, please feel free.
8. Included Mayday's endorsements. Just a brief listing of some of the endorsements Mayday have done.
9. Included collaborations and further divided them into Ashin and Other Members. I'm still getting information on people whom Mayday have worked with as a band so I'll include that later. Ashin gets his own section because he has worked individually with other artistes more than the other members.
The page is more or less updated and I'm pretty satisfied with it. I'm aware that improvements can be made so if anyone has anything to add, please feel free to do so. It would also be wonderful if anyone can find sources that cite Mayday's influences on other artistes.
However, I'm not sure what to do about the external links because I'm not sure which to retain and which to remove. So if anyone wants to do that part, please go ahead.

"This article or section resembles a fan site."
[edit]Hey, doing some cleaning up, and I think Wiki's suggestions can be taken up to edit the page to make it less "fan-sitey". I'm trying to edit some of the grammar errors and remove the irrelevant trivia bits (sorry if it's really someone's hard work !) I've mor or less gotten the article in order but if anyone has any suggestions to make, please do, thanks. -- Sh0rtcake 10:51, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
"This article or section resembles a fan site."
[edit]Wiki says that this article resembles a fansite. I think the reason for his is because of the little paragraphs after the basic member information, like real name, birthdate, etc. I think it would be best if we get rid of those in order to meet Wiki standards, though I'm kinda iffy to delete it. I wouldn't want to delete someones hard work just like that you know? And Wiki might even consider that as "vandalsim" for getting rid of it like that. Hm.. anyone agree with me? --Bopomofo 01:31, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
I think the little paragraphs are fine (I've seen plenty of them around...). But maybe the long list of external links has to do with it. Dessymona (talk) 19:13, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Suggested merge
[edit]Mayday_(band) and Wu Yue Tian are the exact same thing. Why remove the suggested merge tag? -- Dodo bird 05:34, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
did 五月天 disband?
Hey, Guys. 29/12/2006 is the release day of MayDay 6th Album " Born To Love' PLease put your comments here and share listening experience. thanks
Article Name?
[edit]A thought: Wouldn't "Mayday" be better for the article name? The article mostly refers the band as "Mayday", not "Wu Yue Tian", and also, the band calls themselves as "Mayday"... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ericlaw02 (talk • contribs) 15:23, 11 April 2007 (UTC).

Mayday (Taiwanese band) → Mayday (band) – WP:QUALIFIER and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. The article on the Taiwanese band has significantly more pageviews than the American one. '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (talk • contribs) 10:03, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- I've nominated the American band for deletion since it doesn't look notable. But oppose this proposal anyway due to confusion with ¡Mayday!. * Pppery * it has begun... 19:50, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose per above. 162 etc. (talk) 05:13, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose the Taiwanese band has 2,534 views but ¡Mayday! (which would obviously be called "Mayday" and as such WP:SMALLDETAILS doesn't work for the simpler form) has 725 views and the American band has 72[[1]]. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:01, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
