Title
[edit]"Mary Hall, née Lassells" in the lead, "Lassells" throughout the article, so why is the page at "Mary Lascelles"---especially when there is another of that name? Rothorpe (talk) 21:18, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
- The article about John Lassells is also at John Lascelles; presumably this is an established alternative spelling, but why no mention in either article? (I'd only heard of the critic Mary Lascelles.) Rothorpe (talk) 21:31, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
- John Lassells now moved too. Rothorpe (talk) 23:37, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
- At this time in history, names were spelt in a number of ways. Even Shakespeare was spelt a number of ways (see Spelling of Shakespeare's name). HOWEVER, I am all for making this a DAB page for Mary Lascelles, linking to this one (maybe moved to Mary Lassells) and to Mary Lascelles (literary scholar). Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 21:44, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
- Having looked at the article history, it started as Lascelles and was later changed to Lassells. Her fathers entry in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography {Lassells [Lascelles], John (d. 1546)} supports the use of Lassells as the main spelling and Lascelles as the alternative. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 21:50, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
- Actually, what do you say to moving this to Mary Lassells, and moving Mary Lascelles (literary scholar) to Mary Lascelles and adding a hat note? Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 21:52, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
- Well, that's what I was kinda hinting at... Do go ahead, or if you prefer I'll do it. Rothorpe (talk) 22:04, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
