This article is unnecessary and should be deleted
[edit]Hello, I think this article is unnecessary and, in my estimation, should be deleted. This article, which is a minuscule stub of two sentences and a single reference, is referring to the writers Thomas Mann and Heinrich Mann (who were brothers). However, I don't see why such an article should exist. Consider the following reasons:
- They were never a collective entity and did not work together on any project, like for example the Coen brothers, the Brothers Grimm, or any other brotherly collective artist (as a "fun fact", they did not like each other).
- The Mann family, to which they belong, already has an article.
- Their family tree shows that they had another brother named Viktor, so they were not really the only Mann brothers in that family.
- The only thing the article mentions is that they were exiled in the United States but I don't think that biographical fact alone warrants an entire article devoted to it. Both of their respective articles already make mention of that.
I think that deleting this article is reasonable so I will start the WP:PROD process. DemianStratford (talk) 17:54, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- Prod removed. I created this article after coming across a reference to "the Mann brothers" while reading a book, without any explanation of who they were, and I realized that some readers might not have the background to unpack the reference, so a sub-stub article explaining who they were by pointing to their individual articles would be a good idea. If even one reader is helped by the article, it has justified its existence.BTW, the article's Pageview stats show 50 looks in the past few weeks, an average of 2 per day - I think that's sufficient. - Beyond My Ken, an internet search suggests that the topic is notable, however a two sentence stub is not of much help to readers. If you were interested in adding a couple more sentences and references, notability would be more obvious. TSventon (talk) 10:22, 22 November 2022 (UTC)
- The purpose of the stub is to send the reader to the two pertinent articles. The notability of the subject is derived from the individual notability of the two brothers. Beyond My Ken (talk) 14:25, 22 November 2022 (UTC)

Keep, this stub does no harm, nor cause confusion, help readers find more information, and enriches Wikipedia . The listed reasons above would be useful to add addition context to this page. As would farther research from someone local in their area to non digitized copies of media at their libraries. Delete and Merge are some of worst vandalism on wikipedia. If you spent enough time to come up with all the reason you hate the stub, you could have spent the same time making it better. There is not resources limitation, until there are Multiple "Mann Brothers" of note and pages, since there not any, this stub serves as helpful tool. If it only helps a few people, that far outweighs the burden of text on servers. The "this needs deletion" opinion is far bigger burden than this stub, if resources are ever a claimed issue. A Page can not grow until the seed()a small stub page) is planted and time is given for it to develop. Keeping this page allows for that. Don't see the page as it is now, see it how it will be better in the future. 2600:1702:1590:9A30:0:0:0:48 (talk) 13:46, 13 December 2022 (UTC)
This seems to be a bit of a dead discussion but the page creator's argument isn't doing much to convince me. I can't find any sources about this specific entity outside of the book cited, and the reasoning that the page creator gave describes the function of an SIA or DAB. I am not sure how this could be turned into one. AllTheUsernamesAreInUse (talk) 00:50, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
