Removing Arlan P. Gonzales
[edit]Who's Arlan P. Gonzales? Is he really famous? I'm from Tipolo, Mandaue but I really don't know him. Do we really need his name in article? Drakesketchit —Preceding comment was added at 14:27, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit]I don't think we need to re-state Magellan's arrival in Cebu and the oigin of the word, "mantawi", in this section.
[[In April 7, 1521, Magellan first sighted the island of Sugbo in search for food and supplies for his vessels’ voyage back to Spain. Mandaue at that time was called “Mantawi” - derived from a vine that grew abundantly in the coves of the area. This community with abundant vines has even been mentioned by Antonio Pigafetta as a flourishing settlement nearest to Sebu under the leadership of Datu Lambuzzan.]]
Also, I guess it's better that the paragraph hereunder be entered in the "Landmarks" section.
[[ The centuries old San Jose Church is the only church in the Philippines that has a life-like “Last Supper” with Jesus and his 12 apostles called Señor de Cena. During the early years of Spain's colonization of the Philippine archipelago, the church was the center of Spanish authority. The Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima us a popular toursit destinations.]]

<Cityname> <City>
[edit]There is a discussion regarding the removal of the word "city" from the article names of Philippine cities. This may imminently affect the article name for Mandaue. For city names which are not unique, disambiguation alternatives are also being presented. Formal request for page move may follow after a reasonable time of discussion. If you wish to participate, please post your comments here. --JinJian (talk) 03:58, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Pronunciation guide
[edit]A guide to the pronunciation of the name for non-locals would be useful. For example, is the 'e' pronounced as in "Man-dowi" as I imagine it is, or is it pronounced completely differently? 83.104.249.240 (talk) 11:30, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
