Redirect
[edit]Unless there is much more information added to this article, this should be a redirect to Rock Star: Supernova. This is consistent with Zayra Alvarez, Jill Gioia, Dilana Robichaux, and Matt Hoffer.
- As articles are created about these performers, the redirect will no longer be necessary. Redirects are for subjects that do not have articles yet. - Nhprman List 16:53, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
I've significantly expanded this article. Please add more. - Nhprman List 20:35, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, this is much improved. I withdraw my request to change this to a redirect. Well done. --Brian G 20:38, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for the compliment! ;-) - Nhprman List 20:46, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
Use of last name - encyclopedic
[edit]- "Magni is icelandic, not english or american ... he should not be called "Ásgeirsson")"
If Ásgeirsson is in fact his SURNAME (as I suspect it is) then the Wikipedia Manual of Style section on Biographies notes that: "After the initial mention of any name, the person may be referred to by surname only."
It would be far too informal to refer to Kofi Annan as "Kofi" or even Elton John as "Elton" throughout their articles, and unencyclopedic. It has nothing to do with being English or American. It has to do with encyclopedic style. In fact, most Americans would welcome calling someone by their first name, even upon first meeting them. Some cultures find this too informal. - Nhprman List 06:18, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Ásgeirsson is not a surname, it's a patronym. Read the article on Icelandic naming conventions. It's not considered informal at all to refer to Icelanders by their first names, the patronym is merely a mean of distinguishing this Magni from all the other Magni's out there. This convention is already respected on other biographies of Icelanders on Wikipedia. --Bjarki 08:25, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- If it's not his surname, and this is standard on Wikipedia, fair enough. Thanks for posting this information and making the changes. - Nhprman List 17:28, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Stub?
[edit]Question: Why did this just get a "stub" template? It is longer, better written (by various users) and has more External links than most other bios. A one-line bio merits a stub. I'm not sure this one does. As for expanding it, all Wikipedia articles are expanding. It doesn't need a stub label to make that happen. - Nhprman List 18:12, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- I agree, this is not a stub. As this is obviously not a stub, I don't think it needs to be discussed further. Removed tag. --Kuckzul 14:28, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Quotes
[edit]I would suggest that the quoted dialogue in the article should be removed. This is intended to be an encyclopedie, not a transcript of the TV show. This information would belong better at Wikiquote, per WP:MOSSIS. --Brian G (Talk) 23:08, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. I think the section "Rockstar: Supernova progress" is way to much info and is nothing you would see in an encyclopedia. Can it be moved or deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kennyhoo (talk • contribs) 03:09, 19 August 2006
- Im forced to agree, even though I was the one who started those quotes in this article. Not only was it too much work for a small gain, but it was not very encyclopedic either. It looks much better the way it does now, too. And its easier to add every weeks performance. --Kuckzul 14:20, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
About the band Á Móti Sól
[edit]I am currently working on an article about Á Móti Sól in my Sandbox, if you know Icelandic, please help me extract the information from [1] into my sandbox. When we are happy with the article, we should copy it over to Magnis article. --Kuckzul 14:56, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
Date of Birth
[edit]On the website for Rockstar:Supernova his birthday is listed as January 12 not December 1.
- Most likely a misunderstanding on their behalf, Iceland uses dd/mm/yyyy as its date format while the U.S. uses the mm/dd/yyyy format. His birthday is 01.12.78 according to the Icelandic national registry which is meant to be read as 1 December in Iceland but would be read as 12 January according to the U.S. format.--Bjarki 17:04, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
Final Three
[edit]Last show hasn't been shown in UK, but was he the first to go in the final three? As the main rockstar page lists Dilane, Toby and Lucas as being the final three.
Rock Star: Supernova progress
[edit]I removed the progress part again, I think that this section is not needed when the show is finished, because this article is suppose to be about Magni, not the TV show. If you want to see details about the Rock Star: Supernova show, you can see it in the main article of Rock Star: Supernova. --Kuckzul 22:02, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Context
[edit]The sentence "Magni Ásgeirsson was considered ÖM last weekend (14.04.2007) at Akureyri." needs more context. What is a ÖM? Why is it important? If ÖM is on Wikipedia in some other form, link it. --SilverhandTalk 19:55, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
As it's been nearly two months since the above request, with no clarity (plus it's outdated) on the sentence from the original editor or anyone else, I've deleted it. - Melon3531 20:50, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Change/Addition of Headings
[edit]As time passes and the career progresses beyond it, the heading of "Post Supernova" becomes less relevant, so I've changed it to Recent Work for now (still looking for a better heading). Also separated out his current recorded work in English, as it's grown and about to grow even more with an album. - Melon3531 03:18, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Regarding Solo Album (Original vs. 2010 release)
[edit]The existence of a new version of Magni's solo album does not negate the existence or information about its original release. Please respect the original release when doing any updates about Magni, the album. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Melon3531 (talk • contribs) 02:39, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
