I'm looking to help increase the visibility of Ludgershall and provide more information on such an interesting small village. All help welcome!

Back Path,

[edit]

Before my recent edit, there was a mention of a famous "back path". I cannot find any other reference to this, and as it was added by an IP address, I have removed it. Can any locals verify this. MortimerCat 19:33, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No knowledge of Back Path, unless it refers to the footpaths between Ludgershall and Collingbourne Woods? Good recent edits on page, would in not look more professional if we could put local band publicity onto a separate Wiki page and link to it from the main Ludgershall page however?? Local band publicity should not be included in Wikipedia. I have removed it! I left White Trash The Movie pending further investigations on its notability Putney Bridge 07:40, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation?

[edit]

I have driven through this place many times, but never known how to say it. Is it the hall of someone called Ludger or what CanOfWorms (talk) 17:23, 29 May 2009 (UTC) ?[reply]

It's like Ludger shawl —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.84.182.230 (talk) 09:27, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Locals pronounce it "Lugger-shawl".[1] The IPA given in this article is correct. I lived in the area for over 10 years so I can confirm this. ~~ Bettia ~~ talk 08:29, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Name origin

[edit]

It's quite possible that the name originally has nothing to do with him,but at least the contemporary spelling would certainly seem to be influenced by St Ludger. I haven't seen him mentioned anywhere, is he? 178.4.151.68 (talk) 02:28, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
