[edit]"At some point, Theravada Buddhism was subsumed by Mahayana Buddhism." What is the source for this?
Surely this is backwards? Mahayana may have been brought by Nanzhao, but after their departure Theravada must have come to dominate as it does today?

There is no longer any problem with road travel from Vientiane to Luang Prabang. In fact it's a very spectacular trip! 87.194.80.255 (talk) 11:31, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

The town's name is Luangphabang. There is no "r" sound in Lao language. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.23.233.208 (talk) 13:42, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Luang Pabang?
[edit]On a recent trip to the city I noticed no one pronounced the 'r' in Luang Prabang, and reading the Laos script, there is also no 'r', so should it be Luang Pabang? I also checked the wiki article, which also does not contain an 'r' in the name. ຫຼວງພະບາງ is the article in Laos. The r(ຣ in laos script) is included at the top of this article when it is written in Laos ຫຼວງພຣະບາງ. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1.1.170.180 (talk) 06:17, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Historians of Southeast Asia often face problems in using terms drawn from and applicable to European polities and societies to refer to non-European equivalents that do not conform to European models.

"Luang Prabang, literally meaning Royal Buddha Image" and?
[edit]According to the article "Royal Buddha Image", "Prabang" alone means that, so "Luang" must mean something else. What does "Luang" mean? And wouldn't it be more accurate/helpful to translate the name of the city in full? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.165.171.180 (talk) 14:41, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
