Neologism
[edit]Article appears to be about a neologism. Please see WP:NEO and see if it can be brought into line with this guideline. GRBerry 16:54, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Prevalence
[edit]The reference to Lulus being more prevalent in minority areas does not cite references. A few years ago, news reports stated that the Clinton administration conducted a study to verify this, but never released it because it showed no correlation between minority presence and the presence of Lulus. Thus, I deleted that reference. Turtle Falcon 15:56, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
Also the reference to Nuisance as another term for LULU is completely wrong, I would like to see some citations of this, or else should be deleted. Also I made a minor edit capitalizing the acronym. Marianolu (talk) 17:37, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Article reviews
[edit]This page could use a lot more references added to the facts stated as currently it doesn't seem to have many sources to back them up. Additionally, the page could definitely be expanded and a section on the environmental justice aspect could be added. lnicholson14 (talk) 16:49 10 September 2015 —Preceding undated comment added 21:49, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
- Should provide more information on how gentrification is a type of locally unwanted land use. It seems that the section of "Inequality and Locally Unwanted Land Use" implies that locally unwanted land use leads to gentrification, therefore causing inequality. The page apparently identifies two different impacts of LULU, one is directly environmental and the other one is economical. There needs to be a section for economic justice as well as environmental justice 2606:6000:CDCA:3700:2837:2F51:4E29:BF44 (talk) 05:57, 5 November 2016 (UTC) Jiangzhenzhen012 (talk) 00:24, 5 November 2016 (UTC)
- This article is in desperate need of more sources. Several conditions are listed - each should be backed with evidence/citations. Detailed information regarding environmental justice needed. Also, consider information regarding affordable housing and concentrating poverty.R_AlvarezUCSD 06:44, 30 October 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by R AlvarezUCSD (talk • contribs)
- Claims regarding planning efforts to mitigate impacts does not provide any source/citation. R_AlvarezUCSD 06:50, 30 October 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by R AlvarezUCSD (talk • contribs)

- The article lacks any discussion regarding externalities. Specifically negative externalities should be discussed. R_AlvarezUCSD 00:56, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

- Should provide further information on regulation options, auction / cap and trade. R_AlvarezUCSD 01:00, 4 November 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by R AlvarezUCSD (talk • contribs)
- Related to environmental justice consider adding discussion about distributional issues - this could help ensure a more equitable distribution of unwanted land uses. R_AlvarezUCSD 01:08, 4 November 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by R AlvarezUCSD (talk • contribs)

The overview section does not provide a comprehensive description of the subheadings. The overview section discusses about the types of locally unwanted land use and externality, but does not include a brief description of how locally unwanted land use leads to inequality to cover the subheading on inequality. The quote ""Neighbor is crying 'NIMBY!' because the LULU threatens the considerable value that her property represents to her" seems misplaced and somewhat irrelevant despite the fact that there is a citation for it, because there is no context or explanation leading to the quote. Additionally the quote brings the term NIMBY into the description of locally unwanted land use without a explanation of what NIMBY is and how NIMBY is related to unwanted land use. 2606:6000:CDCA:3700:2837:2F51:4E29:BF44 (talk) 05:57, 5 November 2016 (UTC) Jiangzhenzhen012 (talk) 23:50, 4 November 2016 (UTC) Jiangzhenzhen012 (talk)
This page needs citation on planning. The page emphasizes on how planning is important to LULUs in its overview section, but does not provide any details. Therefore there should be a section on planning explaining the term and how different measures of planning distribute and reduce the impact of LULUs in detail. The concept and description of planning is underrepresented in this page. 2606:6000:CDCA:3700:2837:2F51:4E29:BF44 (talk) 05:57, 5 November 2016 (UTC) Jiangzhenzhen012 (talk) 00:08, 5 November 2016 (UTC)
