Why do Queensland Local Government area articles point to town articles instead of a disambigious article name. For instance, Shire of Noosa should point to it's own article Shire of Noosa, and not to Noosa, Queensland. There is some inherent ambiguity in doing it this way.SauliH 18:40, 21 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

new councils

[edit]

I have added the new Aboriginal & Torres Strait islander bodies which have now full council status - the map at [1] shows 32 new councils, so I have updated the total number of LGAs from 126 to 158 --Astrokey44 11:05, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Laidley Shire Council

[edit]

Just in case I don't get around to doing it, the amalgamation notes for Laidley Shire Council need to be changed. It currently shows "Amalgamate in Torres Strait Island Regional Council", but as Laidley is only an hour or so west of Ipswich, this is unlikely to happen :). (I'm travelling, with a dial-up laptop, so I'm not in a good position to be able to peruse the Reform Commission Report at present.) Johnmc 13:48, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mass move of articles to use correct council names

[edit]

Is there an easy way to move back dozens of council pages to use the correct names? It seems someone/some people have taken it upon themselves to rename government institutions. ie: Moreton Bay Regional Council has a page called Moreton Bay Region, Redland City Council has a page called Redland City, etc. Bongomanrae (talk) 12:27, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The articles are for the local government areas and hence use the names under which they were gazetted. The councils are the elected bodies that govern LGAs (although some have administrators or other weird arrangements) and generally the council name is a redirect to the local government area articles. As a concrete example, Moreton Bay Region is the article and Moreton Bay Regional Council redirects to it. If you are aware of any council names not redirected, feel free to add the appropriate redirect or mention it here for others to do. Thanks Kerry (talk) 08:00, 26 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
