"First screening" dates
[edit]Given that this article is about stuff that Netflix has licensed for exclusive distribution, wouldn't it make more sense to list the first date that the movie was added to Netflix rather than the first date where it was released elsewhere? Alternatively, including both dates would be fine, but if only one is going to be included, it seems like making it the first Netflix date would be a lot less potentially confusing. 75.88.82.33 (talk) 07:35, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- It would be beneficial to add the first Netflix release dates to the TV shows, too; as it stands right now, there's stuff confusingly listed as though it's available when it's actually upcoming. 75.88.82.33 (talk) 07:39, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- I agree with you, however it is almost mission impossible (or a herculean effort the very least) to dig up the dates when all these shows premiered on Netflix. But if you manage to do it for all shows and films, I am all for it. Picsovina (talk) 08:59, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
- I also agree. I don't think it would be too hard to find all the dates given that Netflix announces all their releases for each month. We could also use uNoGS which gives the premieres for each title in a number of international territories as well as New on Netflix for the UK which gives a more detailed breakdown of Netflix UK titles and when they have dropped on Netflix. Might take a while though. Apd9696 (talk) 09:55, 1 March 2021 (UTC)

"Worldwide except China"
[edit]Does it really make sense to put stuff where Netflix has distribution everywhere other than China here as opposed to putting it on the "List of Netflix original series" or "List of Netflix original films" page when Netflix isn't available in China in the first place? Everything on the entire service is at most available "Worldwide except China" (and a few other regions); it would have to be released by another distributor in order to get a Chinese release. Alphius (talk) 05:39, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- Good questions, however as far as I know Netflix has a licensing deal with a Chinese streaming service iQiyi, so the question is whether these films are available through this service or distributed by others? In case they are available through iQiyi I would consider them worldwide originals, but in case they are distributed by someone else (like Nezha Reborn, which was in theaters), I would not consider them global originals. What exactly is the criteria for this page?
[edit]Most things on the list are pretty understandable, but some are a bit more confusing.
So first of all, it seems like films that were acquired after they first premiered at a festival, such as Mudbound and Extremely Wicked, are on here. Simple enough (even though that isn’t defined in the description). But why would something like Dumplin’ be on the list?
Then you have a bunch of films that had planned theatrical releases but were sold to Netflix (also not in the description), such as The Mitchells vs. the Machines or Fatherhood. Again, I can follow that, but why aren’t The Lovebirds, The Trial of the Chicago 7, or The Woman in the Window here?
I’m sure there are valid reasons for these decisions, but I guess my main point is that the page itself makes it really unclear and probably could use a better intro paragraph. As it reads now, it sounds like this page is just for films that Netflix airs as an original outside of its home country, but that’s clearly not the whole story. Exact Dates
[edit]Hi, I was looking through this entire list of shows and I noticed that pretty much every single one of them doesn't have an exact date, it's just a vague year which can be very confusing for anyone who wants to know when exactly the show aired first before the Netflix debut. If anyone wants to do something about it, I would be very fine with that
