Recently there has been some consolidation of these articles. Are there any more that we feel should be combined or amended in some way? MRSC • Talk11:48, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there! I tried to make some changes because I when I first looked at an item about 'local government in the United Kingdom', I discovered it was basically an article about local government in England. I like the way that a search for 'local government in the United Kingdom' now leads to four options for further details about the four constituent countries. I feel a similar approach should be applied to other issues - like for example, education in the United Kingdom, where system are different in different parts of the UK. I haven't looked further into the idea of consolidating other local government articles yet - when I get a chance, I'll post another comment. Me again! - I've had a look and it appears that the information in 'Subdivisions of Scotland' could be added to 'local government in Scotland'. Cheers Fishiehelper2 (talk) 15:45, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was wondering about such a merge myself (and for Local government in England with Subdivisions of England) but what I did in the end for England was to amend the "local government in..." article to deal with functions, structure etc. and use the "subdivisions of" for a list of the actual subdivisions. Perhaps the same could work for Scotland? MRSC • Talk19:13, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
