What do we want to count?
[edit]Having done a manual check of the coast through the topo map, I'm now checking the gazetteer and have noticed that there are a lot more places which use the name "lagoon" but might be stretching the definition, or conversely other places which are described as lagoons in some sources but have a different name. There are also the various hapua that often don't have their own name but still constitute a lagoon. So I guess the question is, what do we want to include in this list and what should we leave out? Examples of lagoons that aren't coastal on the list include:
Any thoughts on these (and others in their situation), as well as the unnamed hapua on river mouths or the line between a lagoon and an estuary / harbour would be much appreciated (do we count the Avon Heathcote Estuary as a lagoon?) Turnagra (talk) 07:55, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
Waimehu Lagoon adn Waimanu Lagoons
[edit]I've added Waimehu Lagoon but have been having trouble with it because it has some relation to the "Waimanu Lagoons". [This source https://www.kapiticoast.govt.nz/media/iqdmxbe5/waimanu-lagoons-management-plan-2000.pdf] says Waimanu Lagoons (which includes the nearby Waimeha Lagoon and the vestige of the former Waimeha Stream)
. I'm not sure if this article should say "Waimanu Lagoons" or what. ―Panamitsu (talk) 07:45, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- I should also note that LINZ recognises a Waimeha Lagoon but no Waimanu Lagoon(s). ―Panamitsu (talk) 07:46, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
