Hoki

[edit]

http://www.kashrut.com/articles/fish/ lists the hoki as non-kosher. http://www.14publications.com/question-and-answer/permissibility-of-hoki-fish/ says:

The reason that the second website considers the permissibility of this fish to be doubtful is because, interestingly enough, this fish is born with scales and then, as it grows, it sheds its scales. Thus, it poses an interesting jurisprudential dilemma.

So, if a hoki is caught when it has scales, is it kosher? phma (talk) 20:19, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

PierreAbbat, the people in Australia think hoki is always kosher. On the other hand, silver gemfish does have a requirement to be caught with scales. [1] --Artoria2e5 🌉 15:33, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Artoria2e5:, I agree. I think we should split the Halal and Kosher fish into separate lists. I will do it. Tinybubi (talk) 08:21, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Split

[edit]

I see no reason why the articles on kosher fish and halal fish need to be the same - it will be easier and more organized to cover them on separate articles. JediMasterMacaroni(Talk) 23:39, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@User:JediMasterMacaroni Agree. I have thought this for a while. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 02:34, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
*split It would probably be better if there were two different articles becuase the topics could then be represented better (Sorry for my bad wording) Abdullah raji (talk) 13:04, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
