My draft of a new Fortifications of Gibraltar article (see User:Prioryman/Fortifications of Gibraltar) is now pretty well advanced - I'm aiming to finish it by the end of this month, work permitting. I thought I'd say something about how I'm planning to make it work with this article. I'm proposing to do the following:
Delete the current intro text in this article (basically everything above the list of contents);
Add the geographical typology of the fortifications put forward by Migos & Hughes in Strong as the Rock of Gibraltar, which groups the fortifications by area;
Convert the current list sections into tables sortable by name, coordinates, date of construction and geographical sector;
Add a series of clickable numbered imagemaps, one for each type of fortification, along the lines of Template:Overlay#Charlotte Pass Village. Thus there would be an imagemap for bastions, one for batteries, one for walls and gates and so on.
That sounds great, I approve! I'm particularly looking forward to the clickable imagemaps which I think will add another dimension to the article. Your overview article is already looking great too. Let me know if I can be of any assistance with any of this. Thanks, --Gibmetal 77talk 2 me12:27, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
