Stegodon cf. trigonocephalus
[edit]I have seen many sources citing S. trigonocephalus. Many of which has a cf., indication of not having an indicative characteristic that may attribute it to the named species but is still more likely to be attributed into them. There were also sources like (Allen, 1991) citing that the presence of S. trigonocephalus is definite in Luzon but not in Mindanao.
See Allen, H. (1991). Stegodonts and the dating of stone tool assemblages in island Southeast Asia. Asian Perspectives, 30(2), 243-265. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Artemesiagentile (talk • contribs) 09:02, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
Stegodon cf. sinensis inclusion
[edit]I have seen several papers mentioning Stegodon sinensis on them. However, I usually gather few information about them, and in many instances they were not even mentioned in papers at all. Unlike, S. trigonocephalus which has mentions across the country. I may add them if I gathered more information about the fossil discovery. I also have no idea whether this species were dwarfed or not.
In addition, I also found a paper documenting the probable diet of Philippine proboscideans, but it has no mentions on what speculated species were the dwarf stegodon. It is however, provided with the information being it is a Luzon specimen and that it is different from a S. luzonensis (evident from a strict C4 diet of S. luzonensis). I can't say for certain whether they are from the S. sinensis lineage, and I only saw it being mentioned solely on that paper. Artemesiagentile (talk) 20:25, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
