[edit]I've edited this page, which was full of inaccuracies. Notably, it counted didn't understand that some missions (like those of Lord John Russell or Lord Cowley or Lord Bath), were special missions, and that the previous ambassadors (Seymour, Loftus, Bloomfield) continued in their posts. I've tried to correct this. I've also tried to add earlier ambassadors, but am having some trouble... john k 20:24, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- I have also added more names. My source is the National Archives catalogue, but this does not always indicate the person's role. Two names that I found did not appear in the source. I have left them in but queried them. The whole subject still needs more work.
- I think that pre-1805 diplomats should be Ambassadors etc to the Holy Roman Emperor. This is an item in the former states template, but there were also envoys to the Imperial Court at Brussels (currently listed under Belgium - but perhaps it should be Flanders), to the Imperial Diet at Ratisbon (currently listed as to Bavaria - but perhaps inappropriate), and to various other German states, many of which have no article yet.
Any comments on these ideas?Peterkingiron (talk) 17:26, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
