Where is India

[edit]

hi,

why is the india name missing in world war II ?

India was still part of the British Empire--mrg3105 (comms) ♠06:44, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is there in the Southeast Asia Front. Due to the location of the battle close to the border with Burma, it is included in South East Asia. ShauryaOMG (talk) 06:44, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

a mess

[edit]

This list is about battles, but this is not defined. In English almost anything and everything is prefixed by a "battle of...", but in terms of scale they vary from skirmishes to massive campaigns--mrg3105 (comms) ♠06:39, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. There is nothing about the Greek-Italian war of 1940 -41, an episode with special importance because of the first victory for the Allies side gained by Greece. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.69.126.227 (talk) 09:54, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Missing battles

[edit]

There are a number of large and important battles held in for example, Yugoslavia, that are missing from this list. I suggest that someone who is more knowledgeable about these thing that I am, tries to add them. One example is the battle of Kozara, the battle of Neretva (Fall Weiss, the 1943 offensive, not the 1939 one), the battle of sutjeska (Fall Schwartz) and the various offensives carried out by the partisan proletarian divisions.

In order to refute any "these battles aren't significant enough"-type of arguments, it should be mentioned that the axis forces had about the same number of men participating in the battle of Sutjeska, as the allies had on D-day. The same thing can be said about the Battle of Neretva.

A list of the largest and most significant battles in WWII Yugoslavia can be found on this page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Seven_Anti-partisan_offensives —Preceding unsigned comment added by Barababa (talkcontribs) 03:25, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

China

[edit]

I think the list starts to early for China. I mean we have battles from 1931 on the list! We might as well add the Italian-Abyssian war or the Russo-Japanese War to the list.Hawjam (talk) 20:15, 8 April 2011 (UTC)Hawjam[reply]

Battles of the Atlantic?

[edit]

A whole section could be dedicated to listing all the battles in the Atlantic Ocean (seems odd that there is a Pacific section but not Atlantic).

The hunt for the Bismarck alone involved Operation Rheinübung (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Rheinübung), Battle of the Denmark Strait (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Denmark_Strait) and Last battle of the battleship Bismarck (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_battle_of_the_battleship_Bismarck).

Then there is the enigma, the u-boats, the shipping convoys, etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.129.23.146 (talk) 09:43, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Battle of Bantayan

[edit]

I have seen several references to this, or sometimes to Daan Bantayan, which is across the Tañon Strait. But that's all I see, just references and no detail. Was it part of Battle of Leyte, or something separate? I presume a sea battle, because Bantayan is a small island of little strategic importance. Anyone know anything? Bottom 2 are too minor and have too little sources / information to be articles on Wikipedia. Antny08 (talk) 15:34, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can anybody begin the merging of the article List of military engagements of World War II into this article? Would be greatly appreciated. Antny08 (talk) 13:32, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
