Disbelief
[edit]where're sources for this? i've searched a bit online and can't find any reason to believe that new york's official dance is the harlem shake.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.186.205.102 (talk • contribs) 02:43, 19 September 2006
- i much disbelieve that Louisiana's state dance is "freak dancing".—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.252.82.136 (talk • contribs) 01:20, 19 April 2007
Merge from List of U.S. state folk dances
[edit]It would seem that List of U.S. state folk dances is an exercise in overenthusiastic pigeonholing. The content can easily be held & maintained in List of U.S. state dances instead. -- 63.224.135.113 (talk) 05:53, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Dubious
[edit]I'm not finding any refs on "Salty Dog Rag" and "The Praire Hop" being officially recognized state dances for New Hampshire and South Dakota, respectively. -- 208.81.184.4 (talk) 01:11, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Square dance? How ... imaginative
[edit]The overwhelming majority of the states that have an official dance, and almost half the states overall, have square dancing as their state dance. That seems to indicate a poverty of imagination on somebody's part.
Should New York ever adopt a state dance, I hope we'd be a bit more original. My candidate would be straight out of Harlem, the Lindy Hop. MarkVolundNYC (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 09:20, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
